I used to use them to get fresh air when it was raining. I had the same issue with window tint on the old truck and never put them on my new truck. I don’t miss them.

Ah, I'm a staunch believer in leaving the AC on "auto" and letting it figure it out. :bananadance:

I put them on to be able to crack the windows when it's hot out and I'm away from the truck at work. They won't let the rain in if it rains. Truck definitely felt cooler when I would get back in it after work. Also, for smokers (not myself) you can ash out of the cracked window and it won't let rain in. For me, being able to see more/better takes priority. Sitting stopped at a light and wanting to look at the traffic light to see when it will turn yellow required ducking my head down to be able to see it. That also bugged the crap out of me.

The new truck can do that, but in 09, that was not an option

Found out I washed my spare key last night :( it all lights up when I push the buttons, but it doesnt unlock or lock with the buttons. It does lock and unlock when the touch the door handle and it starts the truck just fine.

    Not the OP.
I have always installed vent shades on all of my vehicles. In summer they reduce heat buildup inside the cab while parked and you can have the windows slightly open even when it rains. Also, I like having the window ajar when driving around in town for fresh air without getting the wind noise or direct sunlight on my face.

Take it apart and blow out with compressed air.

I did, I cleaned it all out, and put in a new battery already. Im going to let it sit for awhile. I dont use that key much, so im not terribly concerned if the buttons dont work. Just annoying.

I imagine "electronics" are fried but the RFID chip is still good since those are "sealed", but when i Swapped my OEM casing over the a Meso case, i didn't see the RFID chip (it was a separate piece on my old honda fit key).

Some say to put it in a bowl and cover top and bottom with rice for 24 hr. Apparently the rice absorbs the moisture. Can't hurt to try.

I still have a few of my QuikFix™ 3rd gen replacement full size, hidden, height adjustable, car wash safe, front license plate bracket assemblies for $30 shipped. Better than the fugly black plastic ones. No drilling if you already have a factory plastic bracket. Ones for SSO/fairlead hole patterns, with additional stainless hardware, are $32 shipped.

So I guess I owe you a royalty check. Between eBay fees, PayPal fees, income taxes, and your damn royalty, it's no wonder I can't make any money off these things LOL. Ok then here is another truck instead[IMG]

I don’t care if you use my pic but my initial thought is “I have a twin!”

I can see these being necessary on a utility package truck when rolling down the windows in the rain.... I was going to buy these, but the sliding rear window helps in the rain big time... You can crack the rear slider and the 2 front windows in the rain and barely get anything inside wet.. my last Taco didn't have a sliding rear window so I was always popping the access cab windows open... I love having the slider... I wish the rear access cab windows still tilted out.

Had to haul materials to a job so I came up with this using scrap wood. Not crazy about the one on tailgate but worked for now.
It's still a work truck even though I'm suppose to be retired. ;)IMG_0364.jpg

Finished sealing the side rail caps with foil tape and silicone caulked the inside edge of the rail only. Allowing any water to flow easily off to the side and out.

also siliconed the bulkhead block rail. I put a couple rubber foam tubing chunks in between the bulkhead and side rail and siliconed those up good to.

I like to leave the windows cracked in the summer to keep temps down inside when's its parked. Having the weather tech window deflectors keep the rain out.
