The truck carrier broke down with my new Tacoma. Now what?

That was one of the best parts about working at the dealership. Crank the ac and rod the hell out if. It will be well broken in.

I’d decline delivery, that’s going to lead to long term rust issues!

Every single delivery I had done was via old retired folks looking to stay busy with a side gig. Can’t speak for other dealerships but the 100’s of customer deliveries I did in sales speaks volumes versus blindly assuming.

@maxmk8 thanks, very stoked! My last whip was a black 4Runner, definitely familiar with the struggle of keeping it looking fresh all the time. But damn do they look good when they are fresh! And good to know about the dealerships. Will most likely wash it myself.

Glad it worked out for you, I think picking it up in person is the right thing to do

I had a black first GEN, it looks so good clean, but it was a truck for off-road, so that didn’t last long usually.

Post pics when you get home and tell us how things went, good luck at the dealership!

She’s not fresh. She gets the pdi (pre delivery inspection). She gets rode like a Chinese prostitute just off the boat. Check the od. They have already been inside her.

Leave the plastic on it, wash/detail it yourself and don't forget the free tank of gas.

    Work in progress...
The Ace here had a little 4.5 cubic foot refrigerator for a reasonable 250 bucks. Best part of this story is I got a great beer fridge now!

Good deal. Nice Truck! I’d tell them I want a free ceramic coat for that black shine for all your hassle.

Looks like the transport truck broke down inside a sanding booth.

Looks like they already had it off road. Look where it's parked.
OP- double check VIN, make sure you are getting the same truck.

I am also someone with dealership experience and you took the words out of my mouth...OP Just be patient and let the dealership handle it.

    THIS

I brought my current vehicle in for warranty service while I was on vacation and I told them not to wash it or anything. Just fix it. Well, they ran it through their car wash which bent the shit out of the front license plate and one of the scrubbers scratched the paint. They used their foot to push the plate back (creasing it) and said "woops" about the new scratches.

Never, EVER let a dealer wash your car. It's not worth it. As a kid I worked at a car wash and our equipment (and the kids hand drying them) caused damage on so many cars that people never noticed.

    Look over it real well.
Glad it seems to be workin' out!

When I bought my truck, used - I went, looked at it/drove/PPI it and was by myself 3hr away.
As I went in to sign the papers, I was like so guys, how am I gonna get this home?
Thinking the options were to have someone drive me back or pay them to deliver it - they were like, no we got this and it was free.
Had a dude in a roll up/flatbed drop it off at my house that evening; he got there a couple hours after I got back - it was sweet AF.

I'll be picking up my truck about 3 hours away (2 states over) and I asked the same question. They literally said, "You got a buddy you could pay to drop you off?"
