I'm a perfectionist so when things are not perfect, it bothers me. My last post was on the curve between the cabin and bed of the Gen 4. The curve was rounder than I wanted, as I think the current Tacoma cabin shape is perfect.

To my nice surprise, the previous generation Chevy Colorado (might be the GMC Canyon), has the exact same round curve that is on the Gen 4 Tacoma---and to my surprise, it doesn't really look out of place in-person. I still prefer if the cabin curve protruded less inward though.

I look forward to seeing it out on the road and for journalist to get their hands on it. Will get mine in December of 2024, I will wait for year 2 of the new model.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There’s elements that I like and those I don’t, but because Toyota eliminated the access cab option I’m out.

No doubt the Access Cab is such a bummer. I just need the suicide door. However, even in the current gen, I could not get an Access Cab TRD Off-road manual---unless I live in Canada. And I called Canadian dealerships and they won't sell it to Americans. Many other Americans have tried as well. I live 3 hours away from Canada :(

Yeh, I agree. To me it's the best looking and most powerful Tacoma built. Some disagree and that's fine.

I need to be convinced on the "power" element. I was initially considering Subaru Outback for offroad access until a truck accessory shop clerk (who only recommended type and not dealer) said that Tacoma or Jeep Wrangler was better. Mostly because of the "180 HP boxer 4" that does not have the punch of a V6. I was not entirely impressed by the "Wilderness" variant of Subarus that needed to add turbo to exceed the 180 HP limit.

Well the incoming 4 turbo betters the outgoing V6 while the hybrid kills it with 325 hp and 465 torque at lower RPM. Seems like it's going to be powerful even with 2 fewer cylinders.

I’m starting to warm up to the idea of getting a 4th gen. I can’t buy immediately so a new 3rd gen is out. And I’m not interested in buying a used one later with an uncertain history at an almost new price.

I’d actually prefer a 4cyl. and if the turbos turn out to be reliable that would be great. Looks like you can get a base model SR without the hybrid which I’m not interested in anyway.

Still think they’re pretty ugly, but I could get used to it if it works and is solid.

I like the looks exterior and really like the interior. Don’t like the headlights or taillights from a visual perspective. Curious on output and performance. And pro / TH version from lower trims

It is a good looking truck. The front and grille and lights are done well. I do not like the shape of the fenders, or whatever they are called.

I’ll have to see it in person but overall the exterior and interior seem too busy. And the TRD Off-Road looks to have some sort of gaudy air-dam. That’s ugly.

The horsepower and torque specs are impressive.

According to the TW Sages, 3rd gens will be dirt cheap after 4th gen goes on sale.
The new Tundra is on recall 7 now I've read...

No wonder Ram does so well in those initial quality studies.

Same here. Some claim it’s photoshopped, but that pic of the 4G next to the 3G says it all. Like when the 2G came out, it makes the predecessor look ancient. Love my 2G and the 3G was a good facelift, but time take an actual leap forward.

Will it come with more than 1 keyfob, and center caps? Toyota still seems to be struggling with parts suppliers.

The 3rd gen will always have an advantage over the 4th gen: two extra cylinders. Output be damned, the V6 is a more reliable and durable setup than an i4 turbo. I also predict the 4th gen Tacoma is going to run into a lot of reliability issues for the first couple of years, much like the current Tundra.

Cable actuated parking brake is a plus, who knows what kind of reliability issues will pop up on the new truck. I'm think of giving it like five years it's an all new truck for Toyota. More power and a new look is a plus. Modern vehicles are so complicated with power everything, and infotainment systems. Attention to the normal systems have taking a back seat, manufacturers can't get those right.

I don't need a 4 banger with the added cost and maintenance of a turbo and a battery/electric motor for a truck that has a lower towing capacity than its predecessor. Makes 0 sense other than meets the CAFE regulations.

Vehicles are getting too complex which equates to higher cost and maintenance which are ridiculous.

:rofl::rofl: Considering Toyota is putting the 2.4L turbo motor in ALL of their best selling cars, SUVs, and truck....I highly doubt it will be unreliable

Think it'll look better in person - seems like the new design elements across the industry aren't getting picked up well over photos.
