Also, look under the hood, make sure it's a v6 and check your fluid levels, make sure it has oil, give each tire 4 kicks in a counter clockwise direction, knock on the passenger side tail light 3 times, twice on the drivers side.

I was half expecting that answer - partially b/c of the 3hr and partially b/c I was one state over.
I was pretty happily surprised - I tipped that driver well too

Shall we check the muffler bearings and make sure the blinker fluid is full???

That piece reminds me of many years ago selling my old Camaro, which was needing a transmission, paint, and a little love for 600 bucks. Guy comes up around 7pm near dusk and looks at it a few minutes, says he'll take it here's $50 to hold it and I'll be back tomorrow. He arrives with his friend the next day, we go in my house and sign the title. He says OK let's go get the money.

His friend is looking under the hood "Hey Bob look at this" and he starts picking things apart about an 11 year old, 130K Camaro. 15 minutes later I go inside to use the bathroom and my dad asks what's happening so I tell him. He comes out a few minutes after I go back out and the friend says "well maybe we'll do $350 for it". I said no, we made a deal. "oh well it was dark out, he didn't test drive it"..he chose to come at night and I offered the test drive. My dad happened to catch that and flipped out on them, said nope a deal is a deal and he'll put the ad back in the paper. Friend says to my dad "it's his car, shouldn't you let him decide?" Before he could say anything I said "nope, I'll relist it" and the jerk says "well you'll need a new title which will cost $25, why not just sell it to him and get it over with?" I laughed and said "cool, he gave me $50 last night so I'll just use $25 for the dupe title and $25 for my attitude problem here..GTFO"

Very different but it just seems so wrong.

Seem like the nicest and most honest Christian people that you could ever meet, I’m sure they would not lie about your taco falling off the back of a loader.

if you haven’t taken delivery of the truck, you don’t own it, so no ownership

Same here. Took my way less then 1000 mile FJC back to the dealer to get the OEM hitch installed [that is another story in itself] and told them specifically NOT to wash it as I had just washed and waxed it and it absolutely didn't need it. And it STILL came out dripping wet and nasty from their crappy car wash with the schmuck smiling and exclaiming ''we washed it for you sir while it was here.'' Ahhhhhh, the dorkidity of the typical dealer lot rat who can't read ''see Spot run Jane, Spot runs fast.''

Pretty stupid to sign the title over before getting negotiated price/cash in hand. Live and learn.

To clarify, price of 600 was agreed upon the first visit and deposit of 50 was given.

Second visit title was in the house and signed in there, but upon going outside with the keys it was that the games began.

Point is it was a rather shifty move

Its not blindly assuming. My point is made below :notsure: The experience of someone who coordinates the deliveries and experience of the one making the delivery are sometimes very very different.

From an x-girlfriend who answered the phone for a few years at a dealership and thus heard many different sides of the internal gossip with nothing else to do, she described exactly this about deliveries. Via what she said, this exactly right. She actually warned me to not let a car get delivered because it would be the cheapest solution they could come up with, without me even talking about it. Just a rando datapoint, but a real one.
