model designations confusion

Hello. I find myself getting confused when looking for aftermarket parts (seat covers, rims, etc) by models and packages. I've used the vin decoder sites but still cant seem to find the info I'm after. Is there a thread here that explains the pre-runner, deluxe interior, base or SR 5, etc. I'm more accustomed to the vin's from late 60's thru early 70's. I think things were just simpler back then. But then again, all of yesterdays confusion seems simpler today. And the farther away it is the simpler it seems to be.

Just what parts are you looking for??

The Pre-Runner is the truck that has the same suspension just minus the 4x4 parts 6 lugs that all to often is confused with the 5 lug 2WD truck.

The extended cab and Double cab are easy to understand and come into play on the length of certain parts.

All the other terms are just different trim levels as was explained by my dealer parts manager.

When dealing with 20 year old trucks unless you bought it new all manor of interesting and strange things can be found.
