    Nice 1971 Dodge Colt motor conversion. First year they made them. I built up a 1975. I chose to stick with the original little screaming 4-cylinder. They almost had the HEMI look: 1/2 a HEMI. ;)

    I bought a 1974 Colt GT for a donor motor because it was before any smog emissions with higher compression. Then sold the perfectly fine 1975 motor. The 1974 motor was the one I built up.


    I went 30 over ported polished, balanced and blueprinted, Isky race cam, Hooker Header 4-1 through a Thrush muffler then split to dual side exhaust AAR CUDA style exiting out in front of the rear wheels. Super loud fast little car. Then painted it white with blue Pearl with painted striped. All in Laquor with four clear coats. We did a design on the hood to resemble a horseshoe to tie in the Colt name.

    It was a manual 4-Speed car.

    Take note this 1975 was a bicentennial edition with a Levi top and Levi seats. Which I purchased in cherry condition from a family member then built it up.

    1980: Crappy photos taken right out of the paint booth prior to some reassembly [front bumper] and buffing.

    I don’t have any photos of it prior to custom paint or the interior but I found some online of this special bicentennial theme model. Levi [top and seat’s] edition.

    I'm DEFINTELY not a fan of those kooky vans. But the moment I saw that photo... I was fantasizing about having a time machine, and going and scooping up a half dozen or so... and hiding them away for future 'use'. hahaha
