The range will be 19-23 mpg avarage normal driving. Hybrid LC will be the same. Those are the best numbers realworld for the most fuel efficient gas truck engines currently available.

Back in the 60s Ford used to advertise how low their bedsides were and ease of loading. Now we need a step stool…

I grew up in those 70-80s trucks, the half tons sure did ride nice. Ford used to market their car like ride. Now guys complain the Tacoma is too car like, which I find hilarious. Truck manufacturers have been tame the “truck like” ride for quite some time, maybe early 60s? The Twin I-Beam suspension eventually found its way into desert racing for how well it does absorbing bumps.

The top of the tailgate on my truck is chest high. That's with a slightly taller block, which is only as tall as the HD payload package. Actually HD truck beds a really tall. I believe Ford lowered the ride height on their SD in 20, from the 19 trucks.

Yeah, trucks have gotten awfully tall. And if you suggest a more practical truck like a Honda Ridgeline, you get made fun of relentlessly. Believe they have gotten so tall because of the fragile male ego. :D

The Tacoma is still relatively low, super easy to load. Even so the super low 5 lug 2WD has been gone for awhile, now the 2WDs are basically lifted from the factory for the “look”.

Looks like even back in the late 50s they show people loading from the sides.

Even a lifted Tacoma is easier to load, tall trucks are a pain in the ass to wash. I should have been taller with longer arms. People will definitely make fun of you driving a Ridgeline, probably even the other people driving Ridgelines. Maybe those kids with the squated trucks were on to something, and just misunderstood.

Used to be into lifted trucks, now that I have aged…want easy. My 1st Gen sits about 2” higher than my 3rd Gen, just that little bit makes it a difference getting in and out of the cab, have to lift the ass cheek just a little higher for the 1G, where the 3G is about the perfect height.

Had a laugh at the practically no nosedive part. The nosedive on my offroad is pretty impressive.

Mine too. Plan is to eventually switch to beefier Bilstein 4600 shocks, probably when I do brakes next year.

Even if it’s the same, doing so with more horsepower, more torque, and a better torque curve sounds great

Do find it odd that Toyota stated that the hybrid on the Tundra and Sequoia will not increase mpg. Yet on the Land Cruiser (supposedly on the Tacoma too) it will.

Just have to wait and see, guessing it will be like diesel, is the upcharge worth the gas savings? You’ll save on fuel, but won’t save any money. Hopefully the system won’t be as fussy as DEF.

Current Tacoma 4 Cyl doesn’t offer any mpg advantage, new Turbo 4 won’t either, as GM and Ford has shown.

While overall, yes the Tundra did improve over previous gen, hybrid did not go leaps and bounds within current model range. Only gained 2 city, zero gains for Hwy. Pulled directly from the Toyota website.

Comparing base prices, $17K+ upcharge to get the hybrid is quite the leap to only gain 2 mpg city.

While true, I’d be perfectly fine with 200 additional lb-ft of torque and the same mpg. After all it’s a truck, not expecting 27 at all.

Not sure if that extra 200 ft/lbs. is worth the upcharge, towing capability goes down to 6000 lbs. on the hybrid Tacoma. Wild guesstimate it is going to be $10K plus because Toyota will tie it into other packages to get it. It will probably be pushing $60K, while you could get a non-hybrid Tundra in the mid 40s, even the base SR will have 2000 lbs. more towing capacity over the hybrid Taco. I tow, so that is the angle I look at.

That's what the mpgs will be, if you feel that's being negative that's your opinion. Don't drive the 4th gen.

How did the iFM become it's own line? That's a sign that the Max engines will see greater incremental price increases over the non hybrid trucks.

Guess because it is all wrapped up premium packages, so they can make back their investment dollars. $17K+ upcharge is quite the leap. The power junkies will seek it out, I sure don’t see the value in it. Especially these days since I am not in too much of a hurry. All that power is lost on me, would never use it to its full potential. Don’t even do that with my current truck, and the majority consider it grossly underpowered.
