How difficult it is to deal with broken bolts??? You can just get a new bolt right? They are not that expensive

He's right. Hard to remove the remaining rust-welded stem after the head of the bolt decapitated itself and wedged into your craftsman socket. Not unless you have a whole garage full of tools.

I gotta be honest. For a 10k budget I would not be shopping for Toyota, and I especially wouldn't plan on taking one cross-continent to Alaska. I love Toyotas, but lets be real. They're overpriced for what they are. There are more reliable vehicles in the 10k used market.

I'm telling you bud, if that truck doesn't put you in the hospital or the morgue, count yourself lucky. That's not hyperbole. Control arms that are one hard bump from disintegration, and differentials that are one hard hill from seizing are both potential widowmakers. I sure as hell wouldn't go trans-Canada with that. It will strand you, and if you don't get injured from a catastrophic breakdown, there's still the remote location to contend with.

That's the reality. There are better vehicles to go adventuring with.

But... Your mind is clearly made up. Some people learn from listening, others have to touch the stove. That's ok. I pray that your learning is going to be less painful than I think it will be.

    Good luck, bro.

Not made up for sure !
I do apereciate your concern Rock Lobster !
I am looking daily different options. Maybe V8 4Runner or GMC Yuykon!
If I would buy it, I would 100% first day change the Controll arms and reseal the rear differential!!!!
    The Alaska part now:
I have lived there since 16( 2016) I moved there from Ukraine. I went to visit my bae and fam last year and got stuck due to war, my bud was in Boston so here I am, planing on escaping it back to South East Alaska ( Island bordring Canada and Washington) so thats a 3000 miles travel !!

If you can get it under $1,000 and have a lot of free time to fix it then go for it. If neither applies than walk away fast.

I'm with @Empty_Lord . Seems like everyone else responding is from California. @vladthedude You are in Boston? This is typical for that area and you're right to assume it will be about as good as you can hope for. My truck looks basically just like this. A lot of rust but a new frame. Just assume that there is plenty of shit to take care of so it will be at least a few grand on top of what you pay to repair. You could also just send it. Everything else looks good enough for a Rust Belt Tacoma. There are plenty of buyers for that truck that will pay over $5k for sure. I'd only pay over $4-5k if it was a manual transmission.

To the OP, since there doesn’t seem to be any way to dissuade you from this foolishness, do us a favor: come back in 6 months and tell us how it went. (What repairs, $$$, any stranding in the middle of nowhere… that sorta stuff.)

We’ll all eat crow if your quest went well, and we’ll dunk on you if it went the way we all said.

That's a tremendous amount of rust to deal with.
Finding all the necessary parts and bolts to replace that would be a nightmare.
Makes me wonder about the body, if the underside is so bad.

Honestly...if somebody was desperate for a frame and interior pieces that's about all that's good on that truck.

Honestly it's not that bad. You can buy a rear diff cover and weld it on. The backing plates need to be changed but nothing a day with a press can fix. Replace the whole suspension and some engine tlc and it would be a good truck. If you have some time and grit it won't be that bad. I bought my truck from Ohio with rust just like that. Check the rockers and bed for rust.
