Rebuilt / Salvage title = Kiss of death on resale value. If you plan on driving it into the ground, you may be ok.

Also, check with your insurance company on insuring it. They may decline.

Yeah I plan to drive it to 200K+ like my current one. It's my work truck. Good call about the insurance.

I think the rust in the first few pics is from them straightening the frame in that area.
Maybe torch and welded, never painted after.

    none yet
the other place to look is the back of the cab to see if the box kissed it when it was hit
if it did the fram took more than a minor hit
being a rebuilt title for frame repair probably nullifies the frame warranty and I don't think Utah or Arizona are considered rust belt states for the replacement

    All stock, baby!
No, sorry, I was unclear. The frame has a couple of layers of metal at the bottom of the C channel, and that's prone to delamination in corrosive environments. Mine looks like this (good), there are recent posts you can find showing how it looks when it's bad.

And as for the salvage title, yeah, it's kind of a big deal here in CA as you can't get collision insurance. I think that's true in a lot of other states as well.

10 hours away, rusted frame and a rebuilt title for an overpriced 8 year old truck. RUN AWAY, FAST!

    I don't know that I believe it's a TRD PRO.
I'd verify that, but I personally wouldn't buy a salvage title vehicle. That's just my opinion.

Absolutely not a TRD Pro. A TRD Offroad maybe, but not a Pro. They didn't even make one that far back. I wonder what else they're lying about?

Are you financing with any lender? Ask if they finance salvage.

Call your insurance agent, ask if they insure salvage.

The old salvage value guide was about 50% of retail. Even with the stupid prices of today, and using 75% of retail, it's still too much.

Warning. I do not believe a bumper and a tailgate will total that truck. Price out those parts and see for yourself. There's more to the story.

    As PT Barnum said......

Well. I think that saved you some headache. Everything can be a learning experience.

    Best wishes on your hunt!
