Lunar Rock Gen III Thread

I bought these on Etsy, but I haven’t put them on yet, they are grey, I think would look good on lunarock.

 

I’m planning on matching to the grill. I did my sliders in an oil rubbed bronze and so I was going to run that on the grill too and the fog surrounds too. Don’t know how it’s going to look, we’ll see

 

From that pic, that's pretty close to the color of the OEM grill on Sports, no?

 

I have the cheese grater OR grill, which is the as the sport grill I believe, this is almost black with a flat bronze metallic; I’ll be standing by with black in case things go wrong.

 

Officially 6 months in and loving my Tacoma more and more! Really happy with my choice on the Diamondback HD (got it on their outlet store online for a better price). Also threw on the 4Runner TRD wheels and 275/70r17 Wildpeaks.

Got some TRD pro tails coming in the mail this week. Hope the black will look better than those chrome stock OR tails!

What would the process of painting the grill black look like? Would I have to scratch it? What paint do yall recommend?

If you use a paint for plastic you can skip spray adhesive and primer. Krylon makes a good one, just clean with alcohol and paint, 3 coats, light coats leading to a final solid coat.

That’s been my process based on experience, although I’ll probably also finish with a matte 1k clear coat since it will be getting some abuse.

 

Finally!!!! It took about 2 months but I am here!

Okay so can confirm, TRD Pro tails look amazing on Lunar Rock.

Now to sell those chromed out old ones…

Dude, I’ll tell you when I sell them lol. Hoping to recoup at least most of the cost for the Pros, but we’ll see. I always use Facebook marketplace, I’ve done well selling my OEM takeoffs on there so far.

 

I sold mine for $115 plus shipping. They were 1-2 months old?

 

Marketplace has been a shit show for me. Lots of no shows.

 

Yeah it’s hit or miss depending on where you are. I usually double dip on eBay too. I sold my TRD OR grill on eBay for $200 plus shipping, which I was proud of lol.
