Having trouble jacking truck up to grease leaf springs

I feel like this is a stupid question, but I'm having trouble jacking the truck up. I'm tying to jack the rear end to put jack stands under the frame rails so that I can grease my leaf springs. If I jack it up by the rear differential, all the pressure is on the diff/leaf springs, so I want to have the truck sitting on the jack stands at the rear end frame rails.

However, I have Allpro leafs (3-4 inch lift), and when I jack one side of the rear end by the rear cab mount, I can't get it high enough to where the back tire lifts off the ground; and thus, I can't get the jack stand under the truck (well I can, but the tires still touch the ground). The higher I lift it, the more the leaf springs sag.

What is the easiest solution here? I already have a 3 2x4's between the jack and the frame rail to extend the height of the jack. Should I use a couple 4x4's and just keep pumping away at it?

 

Also should note that when I jack it up from the rear diff (and have the tires a few inches off the ground), and put the jack stands under the frame rails, when I lower the jack and have it resting on the jack stands, the wheels are still touching the ground.

 

You could do this, lower the jack until the tires nearly touch the ground, then pull the rear wheels and drop the jack more.

Or drive the rear onto blocks, jack the truck up under the diff, put stands under the frame, remove the blocks from under the wheels and lower the jack. Reverse to get it down after, and drive off the blocks.

 

I use a 4x4 and jack from the hitch.

 

With my long travel on the front I have to remove my tires unfortunately, usually my go to option

Just tried this and the wheels are still on the ground with the jack maxed out, maybe I'll try two stacked together?

Are you trying to grease the leafs themselves or are you talking zirk fittings for the bushings?

 

Exactly why I bought the first off-road jack from HF.

 

Just jack the truck from the rear diff, get stands under the rails, lower truck till its resting on the stands. Use the jack under the diff to keep tires off the ground. Remove tires and lower the jack to let the rear end droop out.

 

3-ton stands are too small for the job. Get a set of HF 6-tonners. Even then you may have to put a wood platform underneath them.

Don't forget the wheel chocks.

Why would 3 tonnes not work? I have the 6 ton jack stands but that's for the pair, so 3 each

I was referring to the 6-ton size for each stand. They are bigger and can extend taller. They will be tall enough when extend to rest the frame rails on the stands and your rear wheels will be off the ground.

 

How high does the frame need to be off the ground to have tires off the ground at full droop?

Lift the bitch. If it don't lift, maybe use a taller jack and/or proper extension along with properly sized jackstands.

Ain't rocket science.

 

You can do that without lifting the whole vehicle; I did that while vehicle was on the ground lubing the pads between each leaf.

Aside from that, nothing else gets lubed unless you've got zerks on your shackles for poly bushings.
