Truck is fixed. Turns out the tab inside the connector on the starter solenoid was bent down, not allowing the clip to make a connection.
This involved pulling the starter out again...took about an hour this time...bending the clip back up, checking to make sure it would actually clip in, and putting it all back together...again.
After about four hours in the Tucson heat (I had to take a break about every half hour and go inside to cool off), it's all back together and running again...finally.
Also, I found the back plate for the starter solenoid, it was laying on top of the skid plate, found that when I dropped a nut for the starter.
So I guess I can rebuild the old starter and have it as a back up now.

Oh you know, had a little growth spurt

That is the product of a full summer’s blood and sweat squeezed into a weekend of work with my dad. It’s exactly how I hoped it would look. I’ll take good pictures with my camera soon

Given my son's got a longboard (short one fits in the bed) I figured it was best to have a 3rd tie down in the front so I got one off Amazon. He tried it with just the rear rack but I drove next to him to check movement and thought it's better to have the forward part cinched down tight too. I've ridden the freeways for many years on a motorcycle and stuff flying off trucks and trailers irks me. Scored that Leer top for $400 so the whole setup cost just over $500.

Interesting. Didn't know that. Already have the fuse but I'm curious about that. Got a link?

Is the Denso a direct swap with no wiring modification?

Where'd you source the motor from?

You’ll have to look at the style of regulator your alternator has and the charge voltage setpoint you want, but here is an example. If you are using an AGM battery, you can go as high at 15.0V. Mine is 14.8V.

All you need to do is pull the plastic case off the back of the alternator and the regulator is right there, held on by a couple little screws. I’m sure there are youtube videos you can watch to familiarize yourself with.

The 2nd (https://amzn.to/446E2zy) one will work with your stock wiring, but you need to swap your stock pulley onto it. The 1st one will require wiring, however it might be possible to swap the voltage regulator from the stock one. I never looked into it.

The no wiring modification part of it is the attractive part for me with that one. Swapping the pulley shouldn't too hard I would think.
    Have you done it before?

Also do you know what the amp output is of that second one?

Welp... A/C isn't going to be fixed today.

Shop says it needs a blower motor and compressor. I know how to replace the blower motor. Questions about the compressor.

If I buy the compressor, is there other stuff I need to order along with it? I'm seeing other associated parts, like clutch, rotor, clutch hub. I've only talked to the shop on the phone, so, I'm not sure the details. I'm assuming I need all of the above. We'll see.

I still need to talk to the mechanic and get more info. But if I need the clutch, etc, does that come with the compressor? Or, am I looking at the compressor and also the clutch assembly?

I think I'm going to need the compressor AND the clutch assembly.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
99% of the time if you buy a new compressor it comes with a new clutch already mated to it. Replacing a clutch is uncommon, usually only when the compressor is obscure and getting parts is hard.

That's kind of what I was thinking. But the Toyota diagram makes it look like they are separate.
