How many years or decades has it been since there was a manual 4Runner? Why would they change now?

Because they can...if (still not confirmed) the 4 runner is based off the Tacoma...like the last time it had a manual....The 4 runner has been based off the Prado for a long time...now the LC is based Prado based...it would only make sense that the 4runner is Tacoma based to keep the price in line where they need it to be. I would expect most of the options the Tacoma has to also be available in the 4 runner in that case. (well..maybe not those goofy pro seats)

While I agree with you, the Bronco came out with a manual and had a surprisingly high take rate. Not that Toyota cares that much what Ford is succeeding at but it wouldn’t be a terrible idea. I could see a 5-7% take rate on a MT 4Runner.

Depends on what they do with the 4 runner. If it becomes an off road beast then I see higher

There has been this render floating around. Highly doubt it will come with a removable top. If Toyota can’t get the Tacoma access cab to pass crash regs, highly unlikely it will be a convertible.

Yeah not bad, they got the top about right.

Had an ‘85, top was off only a handful of times. It was a pain in the ass to get off, trim pieces and a bunch of bolts. Had hoist in the garage, so that wasn’t too terrible. Now with the modular tops, might be ok.

My first Toyota, and back when Downey Off-Road was a thing, had one of their 3” lifts on it, plus header and clutch. Paid $6000 for it.
