I did the unthinkable after 14years and sold my 09 4cyl auto Tacoma access model at 217k miles and running like a champ. Been wanting a bigger V8 crew cab truck so I sold mine and for a couple grand$ more
I bought a one owner 2011 SR5 TRD 5.7 crew cab short box with 202k on the clock . Waaaay more bells & whistles than the Taco..
Satellite radio, leather interior, steering wheel Bluetooth controls, freaking gigantic cab etc.(as big & feels like a 2500 Chevy imo)more power than I'll ever need*
(The 5.7 V8 is BAD ASS POWERFUL BEAST OF AN ENGINE imo) if you can check the internal build specs on this V8 it's truly over built....jumpy throttle I'm getting used to, I rarely have go past 2k rpm to keep up with traffic...sooo different than my trusty Taco...I love it.
Times and job needs have changed for me over the years.
When I bought the Taco in 09 gas was 4.40$/gal and I drove 70 miles one way to work as commercial construction electrician foreman.
After 30years of that life I've moved on to a better related systems tech job 12 miles from home. Not saying gas is cheap just saying my driving habits and salary have changed. I've had it two weeks now and love it mechanically it's a winner for the moment, motor & 6speed tranny, 4.31 limited slip rear end run fine all switches electrical, seats new 20" Cooper tires on factory BBS alu wheels...everything works as it should.
It has normal wear and dings on the charcoal colored paint for a 2011 Texas truck so the frame is straight & rust free 100% the driver door key hole is not functioning despite the key entering and turning freely same for the tailgate Wich I locked so it won't get stolen. It came with two working Keys and Fobs that unlock the doors /alarm...The breaks all around are 90% worn but stop the truck adequately for at least a couple more months*
I already have new solid rotor & pad kits for front and rear. But this 105•F weather we've had for the last four months in the Hou area is freaking bullshit I may wait till October to play mechanic.
I check the tires oil fluids and breaks every week, * if I must Ill change the brakes at will.
I considered buying a new or even a late model pre-owned but at 65k$ plus..that's a conservative price but no way. Barring the Lotto...After I pay the wife's 2020 CAMRY XLE I'll never buy a new car again, prices are out of control. Also I'll never own a gasoline turbo from any maker I refuse to believe they'll be just as reliable As a n.a truck. Untill we see different The 5.7 or 4.6 V8 were the KINGS & best match up for the Tundra imo depending on your needs heavy hauling vs mall duty etc.
Hence in my noggin at 11k$ paid cash in full let's say worst case scenario I need a motor or tranny rebuild
    4 or 5 grand $$ I'm still way under 65k$ and 6year financing
    NEVER AGAIN...
The man that bought my Taco for his 16 y.o kid got him a great truck I hope it serves him like it served me....
    Waaaay better than I expected.
I see there's a Tundra section in this Forum so I'll be lurking once in a while. Peace ✌️
Is there any threads or how tos on catalytic converter mods or products to keep Animals from stealing them ??

Welcome to the Tundra Life! Tacomaworld has a sister site, Tundras.com There's a few of us on here that are on both sites so you may see some familiar names.

There's a plethora of threads over that regarding catalytic shields. It's also a great place to empty your wallet if it feels too big.

My same thoughts when moving out of a prius into the tacoma. The feeling might wear away.
