I think in that scenario, it's based on person X choosing their favorite. at least how I understood it. I like both options, either first to submit, or favorite of the challenge presenter. First to submit would probably be a lot more competitive and faster paced, favorite of the challenge would keep it on a weekly basis and give everyone a chance to get selected. unless you don't own a camera lol

Def agree we should have each winner sit out 2 rounds, with the caveat of presenting their entry after a week has gone by, to give others time to put up their entry. Otherwise I'll be forced quit my job so I can stand a chance against you guys

Choosing favorites makes the game a bit too subjective and I can see issues with people choosing the same posters over and over as well…. At least to me

Definitely a valid concern. Especially when you have Mr. @Calamity_taco over here with his fancy camera and glitter graphics, vs my garbage iPhone camera and 2014 OEM livery lol. So there's pros and cons to both.

Winners can't compete in the following two rounds. Can't have the same loop.

I would just hate to ride out a few hours to get a picture only for someone else’s to be chosen due to subjectivity.

If I was beaten to the punch by someone else I can accept that as I lost a race.

Plus there's only like 15 of us, and we are all favorites?

I feel that. but the way I see it, there's no prize, so the reward is in the riding. It's fun to explore.

While the subjectivity could be a concern, I feel that'd be more fair than doing it as a race. Someone like me who works till 5, sometimes later, is gonna have a harder time winning any of those challenges if they require venturing out further than 30 minutes or so. I also don't see any of us picking favorites so hard we exclude the others lol.

Maybe we could come up with a simple 2 tiered point system to offset the subjectivity? maybe one x/10 ranking for how quickly you posted (IE 1st person to post gets 10 points, 2nd gets 7-9, 3rd gets 3-5), then another x/10 ranking based on photography/uniqueness? Idk i'm just spitballing lol.

Maybe the group collectively voted on best picture instead of just the person who chose that weeks topic?

I think this thing is getting overthought. Go look at the photo thread. Does it seem unfairly subjective?

I mean we just need to decide whether we want to compete for time, or not.

Once that's determined, things clear up quick.

    I like that idea too

So we need to come to a consensus on how we choose the "winner"? It's either the first to post the requested photo, or put a time frame on it then choose the favorite submission at the end...

First option will be a faster moving game. The other will allow for more participation in each challenge but is more subjective based on who chooses the winner.

I don't think I care either way. I'll likely pop in the thread to see what's going on and play if I can or just look at the pics if timing or challenge doesn't work for me.

This is getting complicated. The weekly photo challenge thread is super simple and has never had a problem with favorites, bias, repeated winners, etc. Each week it’s a new person picking a winner based on what they like most about the photos. Look at the weekly entries and you can see there’s usually a large variety of interpretations of what the weekly prompt meant for a picture.

Sorry guys, didn't mean to overcomplicate, I am fine with anything, just stating how I've seen other challenges go (either time based or everyone votes) but I'm fine with whatever.

Yeah I was just trying to present solutions. Overthinking is my specialty. Ultimately I don't care what we decide, I'll participate when I can.

Doesn’t matter to me on the rules, but I do prefer the first post to the next challenge. Reason being…. It was neat to me seeing the game move across the country almost daily (assuming people’s have their state in their location profile). This didn’t happen all the time. but when it did, was cool to see. Just because the current pic started mid day on the right coast, didn’t mean a left coaster was left out. Hell, some times they jumped right in early morning.

You cats decide, and I’ll play when I can.

Im torn, i like the "competition" aspect of the time based. But the weekly thing i feel is much more reachable by more people... ANND we will get to see more pics of bikes in cool places.

    I vote photography thread style.

I'm in favor of a simple photography challenge where a subject matter is named, e.g., mountains, and then we all have 1 week to submit 1 photo of our bike in a scene that matchs that weeks challenge. At the end of the week we have a poll where the photo with the most votes wins, and the winner then gets to pick the subject matter for the next week's challenge.

    I propose 6 simple rules

-keep it reasonably achievable for all, but try to make it somewhat interesting or new if possible.
-motorcycle must be ridden by you (pillion, rider, or sidecar) to the location of the photo (no limitations on what bike...so even if you're traveling, or borrowing a friend's bike, or you rent one, you can participate)
-picture should be taken after challenge is presented, with bike and challenge object in the same frame
-1 week to submit all photos, 1 submission per participant, vote on the winner at the end of each week (or have the challenge presenter pick, this part doesn't really matter)
-each winner has to sit out the next 2 rounds (the round they choose the challenge, and the next)
-if no submissions after 7 days, the last person who presented the challenge can modify it. In the event they're MIA, whoever is OP of the thread can change it

Feel like those keep it somewhat structured, but open enough that most anyone could participate if they own or know how to ride a motorcycle. Let me know your thoughts.

EDIT: Rule #7: have fun and ride safe
