this was my favorite day in so long, coming back from a week camping off Lake Superior in upper peninsula Michigan, doggo and I stopped on Lake Michigan to have one last swim/bath before taking the bridge down home. Perfect day on the road.

Been a lurker here for a while, but you guys seem reasonable and friendly which is kind of rare in the Internet age.

Been loving these trucks for years, and I really miss having a Toyota (last two cars were both Hondas). Finally convinced my wife it was time. Designed my own taco truck on the Toyota website with every option and package I could possibly want and none I thought I wouldn’t need, and of course in the best available color (which is how I found this thread). Printed my ideal Taco setup and brought it with me to the dealership. It was a hair over 40k.

At the first Toyota dealership the salesman all but laughed at me when I asked to test drive a Tacoma given they can’t keep them in stock (I live in the New Orleans area) let alone have one on the lot to check out – God forbid. Also checked some of their stickers, and they all had 3-5k in “market adjustment.” Left out of there real quick and headed to the much more reputable Toyota dealer across town.

Gave the salesman my printout, and he found one coming in their next allotment that included everything I wanted, plus a bunch extra that I didn’t realize I wanted - predator steps, the bed power outlet, mud flaps, bed extender, that kind of stuff.

Ended up paying MSRP (about 42k after everything), but no market adjustment and a decent trade-in. It’s a 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport 2WD. And it’s got a hood scoop which the Hot Wheels-collecting kid in me is pretty excited about. The only thing I’d want that it didn’t have is a cd player. I was in and out in 75 minutes which included two test drives.

This was a week ago today, and my new cemint taco is supposed to come “mid-September.” I’m an impatient man. Do they under-promise to they can over-deliver? Is there a possibility in will arrive sooner? We have a camping trip September 1st and I’d love to get the tires dirty.

This will be my very first truck (and my very first brand-new vehicle ever), and this thread has been great for ideas. Already started buying accessories, including that little red/orange/yellow plastic grille badge that pops up everywhere.

I figure there are plenty of things I need (chains, tie-downs, a tonneau cover maybe) that I don’t even know about yet. I’m the cubmaster of our local Cub Scout pack, so it will go camping at least 5 or 6 times per year. Open to recommendations.

Also looking at swapping to the pro grille and maybe even maybe adding a snorkel (it floods here A LOT), but those may be down the line.

OK that’s it. Lunar Rock 4 life.

Wow – that is incredible. This is the only thread I’ve been on here so far. Might be good to poke around a bit more. Going to check into this one this evening. Thanks a bunch!

Yeah dude! OEM, got mine on BAM Wholesale for $289 shipped. Part numbers are:

    81560-04230
    81550-04230

They’re for the TRD pro. Real similar to the TRD OR ones, just black instead of chrome highlights.

Sure! I’m real happy with how they turned out. Not a huge change, but I like the black and red look with the rest of the truck.

Welcome to Lunar Rock! Careful poking around the forum too much... It finds a way to spend your money really quickly! I happen to also recently have been a cubmaster. My kid has moved on to the troop and I am still looking for my replacement! First Mod you may not be thinking about... You can replace the plastic piece that holds 2 cups with one that holds slightly larger bottles... Like a Nalgene bottle rather than a starbucks cup! Takes about ten minutes to make the change once you have the part!

Thanks. They tie in nicely with the black accents. I'll likely go this route soon

    Nothing yet
After I put my deposit down (early June ish) I was told end of July at best but more likely August. When the truck was done being built and loaded onto the train is when I got a range of dates - Aug 11-22. Got the call on the 7th saying it was at the dealership and picked it up on the 8th. All in all it was about 2 months if I recall correctly, cant remember the exact date I put the deposit down off the top of my head. I payed window sticker but there were no extra "costs" other than the parts that were on the truck which i wanted and a small dealer fee which is unavoidable in CT.
