Favorite Whiskey?

It's getting more common to see. I actually don't mind it. At least if you have to spend over msrp you get something else to show for it too. I would much rather this than pay a huge markup on the bottle.

This was a good bottle but I wouldn’t say it has been a favorite.

 

The Nesh Chiller. It lets you drink your whiskey chilled but still have it neat. The maker says it'll chill your whiskey down to 36° in second, but it does take a few passes through the chiller to get there. I'm a slow slipper and the last half of the glass always seem too watered down using ice, and none of the stones I've tried work very well. So while it is a process to use it, I think it's worth it.

Lol, I deal like a simpleton posting what I’m drinking tonight. That being said, I enjoy it for what it is. I’m going to my hunt lease at the end of the week. This feels like a precursor. Cheers.

 

Is RR hard to get by you?

 

Apologies as I’m not sure. I don’t think it is hard to come by in the PNW but I haven’t been actively looking for or tracking it. I can always keep an eye out for you, if you would like. Last time I was in the store they had a good quantity of these.

 

Oh no I was asking because it's super easy to get here and even in NJ it's sold at MSRP. Wasn't sure if it was harder to get where you were or not.

 

The price on the shelf was $37. In Washington State you need to know if they are showing the final price after taxes, but this local outlet definitely only shows the final price on the shelf. It rang up at $57. "Whoa, just a minute there!" The clerk and I looked at the price and verified the bottle. She took it back to the manager (who I kind of know from prior conversations), and he said I could get it at the shelf price which was incorrect (apparently near wholesale price). He knows I will be back.

I have not spent too much time with Calumet in the past. Straight it has plenty of brown sugar and toffee notes, and the alcohol seems well hidden without any excessive heat.
