    This looks great!

I'm hoping to get mine in a week or two. I still need to order some replacement side bed rail caps since I have the OEM tonneau cover and mine are cut. I'll run some butyl? tape to try and seal it up a bit too.

Did you install it yourself or pay someone? I'm looking to get one of these T plug and play deals for the brake lights. https://fbchs.square.site/product/t...true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=7
Did you use one? I'm not sure if the regular one is needed or the one with the parking light.

Does the third brake light on the cab shine into the cap at all?

Thanks man. It takes a little getting used to losing some vision makes you really pay attention to the points of reference that you DO have. I will have to look into the rear view mirror back up camera. I mean... It could be worse. I could have a swing out tire carrier blocking the rest of my window and back-up camera. I'd have to get one with "the force" real quick like, if I had one of those.

Nice! You will dig it. Sealing the tops of the bed rail is pretty easy. I found some good information here on the GFC forums. https://forum.gofastcampers.com/t/help-with-preparing-3rd-gen-taco-for-gfc-install/3476/15

I like the rubber water proofing tape better than some of the other tape options. If you cut a small starter hole the rubber will have the ability to close back in around the post tab once installed. I can't imagine the metal style tape has the same elastic qualities.

This is how I did mine. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lets-see-those-alu-cab-setups.560930/page-43#post-28866608

I had mine installed because I live in WA and ordered through MULE in OR. They are not open on the weekend, and I didn't have anyone to assist during the work week. I would have preferred to try to install myself, but it wasn't in the cards. I don't notice the brake light shining into the cab that much, so if it does, it's not distracting enough for me to notice. I think my cap comes with some simple quick disconnects on both sides of the canopy that feed the hi-mount brake light as well as the three internal manual lights that come standard. So between those lights and the OEM bed lights, there's a good amount of lighting options to cover your needs. Some have added even more LED lights to the roof.

It was a great experience. They were very nice folks, it took them about 2.5 hours. I had ordered lock covers from Mule Expeditions, I left the lock covers on the front seat of my truck. They installed the lock covers without me asking them. They have all sorts of cool goodies you’ll want to waste money on in there showroom.

Can you open the back of the contours from the inside, what about fit and finish is it pretty water tight also?

    Loving the look!

I was considering the same thing for mine. I don’t even have an updated spare yet!

I’m running comparably spec’d wheels, but pizza cutter style. Did you have to do a cab mount chop?

Yeah. My full size spare is hanging in my bed, laying down like a hobo. For now...

I anticipated larger 33/34" tires when I got my Tacoma. It was one of the first mods that I did, because I knew it would require some planning. I think the 285/75/17 is a nice compromise as far as tire size that gives you good over height, but isn't crazy wide. That helps. I would think 295/70/17 might be harder to fit due to overall width.

My CMC is fairly aggressive and I have heat-gunned the wheel well liner out of the way. That's it so far. I need to see what if anything still rubs when it's flexed out. So far, I have yet to hear it. I think the SCS 17x8.5 -10mm offset wheels help a bit too. Although that spec isn't too common, I like where it sits. It takes this size tire right up to the edge of the wheel flares. I plan on doing the 5-wheel rotations. I am excited to see how these Toyo AT3's do this winter. It's been a while since I've had an 3-peak AT tire for winter driving.

    bummer day.

called juniper and sounds like my contour won't be in until septemeber or october... They aren't sure if its shipped or not but definitely isn't state side yet.

Looks like I have to order some bars to go over my tonneau cover for my Oregon trip in Sept.

    Oh well

Questions for the guys with 5ft beds and canopy campers... Im looking at one used and wondering how much I'll need to change my current setup.

    1. Do you have bed stiffeners or did you need to remove them? Mine from total chaos bolt into the metal rear upright supports and onto the bed mount on the bottom. There is still a couple inches before the tailgate but seeing those fitment panels makes me question if I'll have to remove them.

    2. If I do have to remove them, I currently have a platform that spans the whole bed. It kind of sits in snuggly. Will I have to trim/remove that?

I have total chaos bed stiffeners with my canopy, but just have the canopy, not the canopy with camper.

I have bed stiffeners installed with my canopy camper. You will be able to work them in there (or leave them as they are, I installed mine after setting my CC on my truck bed).

Where does the platform sit? Wheel well height? Is it one large, flat piece? If it is one large piece then you either need to set it in there before you install the CC, or you need to modify it to be two (or more) pieces. The rear door is large, but not 'an entire 4'x5' piece of ply' large.

It's modular, 7 pieces with 3 support racks. Good to know about the stiffeners, thank you. The support pieces are 20"x36"x8" and the platform pieces are roughly 30"x20"

You will have no problem working those through the rear door, and the height above the bed floor will not be an issue with the CC.

I had the TC stiffeners on my truck before I went with the Canopy Camper and was told I could remove them. The rear bulkhead assembly is essentially one big bed stiffener so they are not necessary with the CC. Once again, this is for the campers, not the caps.

I agree with this, but I still added bed stiffeners. Color me overly cautious I guess.

I would prefer leaving them if possible as well. It looks like the bottom plate uses the inner bolt hole that the TC bolt into. I finally found some install documentation,

    upload_2023-8-16_10-53-23.png

It looks like the fill panels bolt outward of the stiffeners so I can probably remove them and lengthen the vertical bolt holes a tad. (The thickness of the bottom plate). At the very least I'll need to remove them for install. Thanks for the quick replies guys.
