Gotta think in terms of economies of scale here: Tacoma’s manual take rate is around 5%. Doesn’t sound like much, but…over the length of Gen3’s lifecycle, that’s actually 100k trucks, or an entire year of Colorado sales. And a business case is born…

With every BOF truck soon to be running TNGA-F, they can now share development costs & make more profit by dropping manuals into even more models, within reason (read: not Sequoia). If they choose to position 4Runner as a fixed-roof Bronco competitor, offering a stick actually makes a solid business case, b/c underneath it’ll be just a Tacoma w back seats.

 

I mean if you’re running for President of Toyota NA you have my vote.

I think I'm in love with solar octane. I saw a Tacoma in Inferno for the time back in June. Absolutely smitten, I am.

 

I played around with that and I’m not sure why I had not realized the beds were not that much larger than the Taco bed.

 

Can't wait to see the TW mad scientists start experimenting Gen 4 parts into Gen 3s. And vice versa.
They won't be direct bolt ons but thats never stopped this crew before.

After taking my Tacoma on a recent family trip I’ve decided I need something with more interior space. I started looking at the website for the Tundra. It’s weird how there is no TRD off-road listed as a model but if you start with an SR5 you can add 28 different options to it including a bunch of different TRD Off-road and off-road premium packages. With that many variations what are the chances that you will ever find a truck with the options you want at the dealer. Seems almost impossible. I picked one of the mid level offroad premium packages and it came up to $58K.

 

You can get an 8’ bed with the smaller cab.

 

I had not noticed that, guess I was looking at this higher end model.

 

I did the build for an off-road with the 6.5’ bed. The Pro only comes with a 5.5’ bed and is also $74K. That’s absurd that it’s $16K more than the off-road before any dealer markups.

 

That’s a little pricy and not even the highest trim. I didn’t have the option for the off road based on my zip code. 7 other trims but not the off road.

 

Those bulky Isodynamic seats were tested first in 3rd gens
