One time in September 2020, a woman in her late teens or early 20s hit my truck while it was parked in a parking lot; I was standing several feet away and not actually in the truck, but I saw it happened. This girl was crying by the time I finished screaming at her, and it didn't help that the older woman she was with (I think it was her mom) tried to bribe me with $100 in cash not to contact their insurance company. She was in a Chevy Equinox (a 2013 or 2016 if I remember correctly), and she had been making a very wide left turn. The left side of the Equinox made contact with the side of my truck and pushed my front bumper in. The damage wasn't bad at all, but the older woman kept saying "you can buff that out". I once detailed cars for a living, so I have a pretty goddamn good idea of what can and cannot be buffed out. I have a base model truck like you, Chris, so my truck has a black composite bumper rather than a body-color one. At one point, the older woman had the nerve to ask me why I was being so rude; I looked her directly in the eyes and said "Because my truck keeps getting hit and I'm sick of it!" That shut her up. By the way, the cost of parts and labor to fix my truck ended up being like $450...

 

When l was young l bumped into the rear of a Shity Chevy Citation, tilted his bumper downward and bent the plastic piece on the side of the body. Being young l tried so hard to pay out of pocket to fix his car so my insurance would not go up. The guy kept calling every day finding things for me to replace like seats and exhaust system so ended up having to make an insurance claim. BTW l was able to repair my car for less than 50 bucks, used grille and 3 headlights.

 

Back then, he would have been better off getting it totaled...

 

It still aggravates me today that he was just trying to take advantage of me through the situation.

 

That's exactly why I have great insurance and a dashcam. Sounds like the bastard was trying to get you to pay to rebuild the whole goddamn car! Did you get my joke though...?

 

Yep l did. If l can afford it some day going to invest in a dash-cam.

You watch your mouth re the Citation! Haha..loved the one my father had, just kept on running.

That said definitely..this person was just being a dush. And I miss those days as my friend's Escort GT was the same thing, couldn't find a GT nose quick so we just used a basic Escort grille for the time being. He never got hold of a GT nose piece before the shock rotted.

Not on my time and property, but you're right that so many others act like that

There was no crying at the scrapyard incident on Valentine's Day in 2022, but one of the workers had the balls to ask me why I was being so hostile. I was screaming and dropping F-bombs, I'll admit it, but you just dropped a metal pipe on my truck and you expect me to be all flowers and sunshine?!?!
