This is what it looked like to me. Rust started to appear and it looks like it is under the surface of the coating. Sounds like exactly what you had said.

but like I said they wanted to make it good. They had said the coating was done locally, and it was the powder coating shops fault. They were looking into exchanging for a new set but didn’t have my set in stock. They said it was an odd configuration. It’s the trail, no kickout. So they would have to pull them and recoat.

For a friends last day. To feed 60-80 people we ordered like 350 of them. First time I ever had White Castle. Working in a fine dining restaurant in Manhattan. So many burgers.

I’m going with the cheap steel. They quit using salt here awhile ago to be better for the environment. Lots and lots of sand when they do decide to plow :mudding:

Supposed to be. I guess I was supposed to keep them in the box in a climate controlled building to prevent them from turning to dust and the earth reclaiming them :notsure: Hopefully this allows some folks shopping for sliders to make an informed decision if they are looking @CaliRaisedLed sliders and other brands.

Yea, they are caliraisedled. I double checked my order and shipment slip before I posted. I didn’t want to reflect my opinion and experience with these sliders, poorly on the wrong company. That’s good info though for anyone reading through the thread that wasn’t aware of the two companies!

I’m less than impressed with caliraisedled. Their customer service was garbage, they won’t post negative reviews, only the positive ones and most importantly their product completely failed. I have @RCI-Offroad skids and they have held up Flawlessly. Look almost brand new once I splash some water under there. I also have UpTop overland for a roof rack that’s been on there for almost 3 years. With the mud, snow and all the weather thrown at it it does look brand new. Given, it isn’t getting rocks constantly hurled at it but it looks pristine. 3 different brands, 2 of those products look great after years. 1 of them looks like it got dug out of an old mine pit.

Cheap steel rusts the same as expensive steel. Sliders aren't made of stainless.

Bummer. I was actually considering the CaliRaised sliders due to the price and somewhat being local to me.
I would prob skip the powder coat and just primer + rattle can and hope the Socal environment does not rust it away. non-salt roads are 1 small benefit to offset living here where the lunatics run the asylum, now excuse me as I jump over this homeless tent to get into my car :jpow:

They're made to take abuse, lose paint, get them blasted to remove old powder coat, rust and then prep them yourself. Bed liner or local powder coater.

I have lived in California and the East. California has great fab shops and all kinds or things East doesn't have. Want your frame gusseted and Tig welded? No problem in so cal.

But they just don't understand rust at all.

Regardless of supplier, powdercoat needs zinc/epoxy powder primer just like wet paint for automotive use.

Remember PC is also used heavily to n commercial applications like the racks n wall mart, costco, and patio furniture. These can get by with just powder over bare steel. But wven the slightest amount of rust undetneath the PC will eventually rust through (absent zinc primer) like it would on wet paint.

One or two vendors here (I forgot which) use primer before PC.

I always order parts raw and PC with the primer. More hassle and $ but I know it will last.

I have the Trail edition rock sliders with kick out; noticed today that my rear fenders-the plastic trim- are pitted and scratched, I assume from rocks off of the kick out. Slightly displeased by this addition, although I cant seem to stop scratching this plastic myself either. Anyone else with this problem?

I've never tried sliders with cattle (beef) raise in California, unless white castle gets their beef from there, but i've only had that a few times.

Old thread but to add to it. The same thing that happened to OP happened to me. Within two years bubbling began forming under the powder coating. I contacted them and they sent me out touch up paint. At first the spots were small so it wasn’t a major eye sore. In the 3 to now 4 1/2yrs they look like total crap. No where near as bad as OP but bad, but they are rusting everywhere. I sent them pics early on and explained that after only 2yrs they are pretty much shot, and look bad. Cali told me there’s nothing they can do, no store credit, nothing.

I just got them off. Most likely having them refinished. Then I may toss them back on or keep the Lbs off the truck and sell them. They look good but they are heavy. I’m gonna ride the truck for the first time since buying it wo them on, and see the performance of the truck, then go from there. Overall was definitely disappointed in how quickly they turned on me. If I keep em after refinishing I’m definitely going to be applying rustoleum / preventative coatings quarterly.
