Yep, while what others get is a decent benchmark, there are so many variables that for how and where they drive.

Fuelly has an average MPG of 23.3 for a 2019 WRX.
I've put 90k miles on my WRX and maybe hit 25 at the absolute worst. I average 26.5 MPG with my Thule roof rack, and 28-30 without.

So we switched to turbo engines to save mpg but if we use the turbos we don’t save any mpgs? Sounds brilliant.

It's the same if you have a heavy foot with a non turbo. I feel like I have to spoon feed you like a child

And no one had said the turbos are to help with better gas mileage. The turbos are for emissions

Well except for Toyota that is saying 24 mpg. If people are getting 15 then there’s a slight problem.

It actually does. It allows you to use a much smaller engine and produce a lot of power when needed. While when coasting down the highway your using 4 cylinders instead of 8. Best of both worlds.

How much fuel you burn and how much emissions you produce kinda go hand and hand. If anything I could see a turbo being worse for emissions as higher EGTs can lead to worse NOx emissions. I may be wrong on that but I know diesels have that problem.

You are wrong ....its the reason the went to a 4cyl turbo as stated in videos where Sheldon the engineer states the reason they did it.

who among the group is thinking about getting rid of their 3rd gen and getting a 4th gen or other truck in the near future?
Do you think the 4th gen price increase is worth the trade?

Major differences you see between the 3rd gen / 4th gen that makes you think about trading?

Seems like they improved on some things and went backwards on others. Engine and rear suspension are the best improvements. However they ditched the access cab, means that I would have to get the DCLB, at that point better off buying a Tundra DC6.5’ bed, could use better tow capacity anyways. Guessing cost-wise they’ll be within a couple grand of each other. Better off getting the truck with greater capacities. The more I look at the Toyotas, the more I like what Ford has to offer.

Here you go. It’s right on Toyota’s website twice for both turbo and Max engines.

I agree, it seems competition is getting up there, GM, twins and new ranger look enticing and price competitive with what they are offering but I guess the pricing on the Taco will dictate who is buying or not !

Toyota has the XtraCab, I favor that over GM and Ford even if the underpinning on those two is more solid and offers more power. There's also Frontier, heck GM and Ford don't even offer a long bed. GM and Ford would win me over in the 1/2 ton segment.

It is! Unfortunately the competition only has one body configuration. Short beds won’t work for me, 6’ is barely enough. So that means DCLB for me, start comparing dimensions vs. a Tundra DC6.5. Wheelbases are almost exactly the same, rear legroom is close, Tundra is wider, but you also get much more power with similar fuel economy to the out going 3rd Gen. Plus much greater towing capacity. I am retiring here in a few years, Toyota dragged their feet for so long to update the Tacoma the time frame is off for me. So it is a Tundra or other full-size.

I like the Tundra DC but I think is a bit too big for me, hell I think the tacos are getting already way too big. Miss the 1st gen size that is for sure
