On the topic of motorcycle wheel chocks, this one sold at Harbor Freight is great for the price: They also sell this one that includes a self-locking mechanism, but does not include tie down points:

Either im not paying attention to how many miles im doing, or dino oil changes dont last long enough.. but im due for another change in 500 miles. Engine is starting to feel rough.

dino oil change: $50 every 3k miles
    Synthetic: $105 every 4-5k miles

    which makes sense??

    Go on the low side

    12k
    4 changes Dino = $200
    3 changes Syn = $315

    or high side

    15K
    5 changes dino = $250
    3 changes Syn = $315

Dino will be cheaper in the long run, but mine calls for 8K service intervals....so even at 5K....mine is only $30 for everything(Honda Syn oil and filter):notsure: :D

For me personally, I would do synthetic. The extra cost is worth not having to do it as frequently.

My manual says 8k intervals too, but when i ride, engine feels rough. When I change it, its much better.

I want to stick with dino, but also want to see how long a synthetic will last. That part I don't know, the mileage I was just guessing

Use synthetic, send a used oil sample to Blackstone Labs and get an oil analysis done on the used oil. They'll tell you how far you can go on oil changes. Engineers spec intervals to cover the manufacturer against warranty claims and issues. FJR manual calls for 4k change interval but I regularly use 5k as my interval. I have already gone as high as 7k if it was a lot of interstate riding on that particular interval. I know guys in the Iron Butt Rally who use Blackstone and more than a few are now doing 10-11k miles between changes with no ill effect. I just can't bring myself to go that long. It's a mental block I guess.

I have that mental block with my truck and synthetic. Cant do more than 4k

I might try blackstone. Friend reminded me why I bought a Honda. They will just run. I think im going to see how it feels at 4k and go from there. Gives me another 500 miles

That's why I love my Versys. Even with a leaky fork and 5k+ mile oil it doesn't care and keeps running.

(I really need to change my oil though, my projects keep compounding).

For those of you who ride old CB’s do you run a fuel filter? I see differing opinions online

1977 CB400F Supersport owner here. Only fuel filter on mine is the one in the tank itself on the petcock. When I bought the bike it had been sitting in a garage for about 8 years and hadn't run in that whole time. I thoroughly cleaned out the inside of the tank and replaced the petcock and filter assembly and sonic cleaned the carbs. I run the float bowls dry each time I park it, use almost only non-ethanol gas. I've had it back on the road for 10 years now and no issues with fuel or carbs during my ownership.

Picked up this VTX1800 for $3500 in Pagosa Springs, CO.. I had no idea what the VTX1800 was until I starting reading about them one day, then the search began lol.
