$149 for the bed lighting kit certainly sucks but the rest looks good. Other than maybe MSRP being so high but that’s Toyota.

Makes me feel a tiny bit better for buying used at 28, though I don’t have all the fun bells and whistles here.

It’s a nice truck! Good work OP. You’ll be able to address whatever you want to once you get the keys. Other than AT, you’re stuck with that one :)

I felt the same way on the bed light kit but I had already priced out the OEM switch (not included because it's an AC) and the OEM lights and it came to like $140 plus I'd have to do the install (30 minute job) and it wouldn't be covered under warranty. So it doesn't bother me when I look at it that way. We haven't negotiated any of the numbers yet so maybe there is some wiggle room. Who knows, maybe they'll feel bad if they can't get me the LED lights and give me something for my troubles. :) Overall, I'm in a good place. I REALLY didn't want to get stuck with a 2024 (let the flaming begin).

Definitely something to ask about, since they borked the headlights, giving you the bed lights for free shouldn't be that much of an ask.

Yes, you got a bid on an allocation. I really hope it works out for you. There is a chance that truck is never even built. But I really do hope you get exactly what you are expecting when you pick up/pay for your truck.

I appreciate it. I've been trying to get this truck for SO long and jumped through so many hoops I'd be crushed if it doesn't happen. My last Toyota was an off the lot Matrix I kind of bought on a whim (best car I ever owned BTW) so I'm not wise to the inner workings of Toyota shenanigans. I appreciate the insight, I really do. As a side note, I was initially deciding between the Nissan Frontier and the Tacoma and two things tipped me towards Toyota - the sheer amount of aftermarket support and the incredible insight of this forum. The knowledge of these trucks by the community here is astounding. The amount of smart-assery makes it fun to hang out here.

Honest question, why is AC so important compared to DC? Is the 6’ box on shorter wheelbase a critical piece? If I were buying AT, it for sure would be DCLB. Even the DC is tight in the back.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually put in a request for AC MT OffRoad in 2020 which of course got shot down, my local fleet manager said it was worth trying just in case. So I do have love for the AC too. Just curious why it’s so important to you, OP.

Three reasons. 1. I never, ever, ever, ever have more than one passenger in my vehicle. My current vehicle is a Nissan Rogue and after 10 years I've never had a passenger sit in the back seats. I store stuff back there for my job - tools, spare parts, etc. 2. I actually plan on using the bed of the truck. Motorcycles, bicycles, lumber, etc. 3. I prefer the look of an access cab. I'm going to get a lot of hate for this but I can't stand the look of the DCLB. There's something unnatural about it.

Within the first week I'll be removing the back seats and hopefully replacing the back panel with either the non jump seat version or fitting a DC rear panel in there for storage. If I don't end up getting this truck I'm seriously considering buying a fully restored El Camino. It would be MUCH faster, much cooler, and cost WAY less.

Out of curiosity does the new and old build sheets have the same vin number? Just wondering if they found a different truck that fit the profile better or if they actually modified the same original truck. Congrats BTW! Got mine about 2 months ago and couldn't be happier. I like the look of the 24's but would rather have tried and trusted last model year of any vehicle over a new one that will have bugs to work out.

Same VIN with the unwanted add-ons removed.

Congrats on your new Taco. I'm hoping to join the club soon.

I want to apologize, I did not know they had stopped putting the wide angle halogen fogs on the offroad and pro. I sure like mine.

Also I had a 80 el camino 305 V8 silver with red vinyl interior. It was hella fun.

It is a terrible shame Chevrolet sliced its own balls off, and decided to make garbage.

Yep. I can't stand GM anymore but this would have been an easy purchase for me. The fact that they continued to make it for other markets after they cancelled US market for them is a head scratcher. I heard it was because GM kept it for those markets as a small truck...ish.

I had a buddy with a mid 80's el camino and I loved that thing, even as a kid. It was a sports car *AND* a truck. How cool is that?! However I also like Gremlins so I'm not always a great judge of cars. :)

I mean the Camino is ok, but why does Toyota release the new LC 70 series for the world except the US? Mind blowing, jealousy inducing madness.

I had something similar when I ordered my 2022 DCSC TRD OR, I wanted the LED headlights and Foglights but I don't know if it was a misunderstanding on the Dealer's side but I got everything else I wanted, manual, Army Green, Off-Road with the Tech Package. That's 99% of what I wanted, so in 2021 I couldn't complain at MSRP.

I eventually saved my money bought the harness from our a fellow Tacoma World member and got the LEDs and installed them myself. I'm super happy how they look.

I thought the tech package and/or premium package came with the LED headlights. I can’t find my Mulroney to check but I have a DCLB which might be different. I don’t think it’s a separate package unless you don’t have tech/premium. Good luck either way, looks like a great truck.

Just LED running lights as standard. It is what it is. I added all of the packages (including LED headlights and fogs) but it was somehow missed and I couldn't get that fixed. What's ironic is I've been watching the Toyota inventory tracker and MOST of the MGM access cabs had LED headlights.

Damn. And I threw mine in the trash since I was thinking "halogen = 1980s and no one will want them". Who knew??

OP I hope your new truck is everything you have been hoping for!

Caution when choosing LED driving/fog lights in snow country. They become slush magnets. But probably work great any other time. I switched back to OEM after one winter.
