    Hey guys,

I'm looking at a used bed cap tomorrow, a Leer 122 if the pictures are accurate. Any tips on what to look for so I know I'm picking up a good cap? I've never had one before, but I need it.

    Thanks!

x2. I found one today that came off of an xcab and is painted my color already for $450. SnugTop is the brand listed. I am waiting for a response but if not that one I am going to get one at some point. Don't know what will ensure I get one that will last and keep things dry.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
-Check for spider cracks around the corners and chips on the edges.
-Insure there is a proper seal along the bottom.
-Check the seals along the window for dry rot, etc...
-Look down the length for bumps (un-flat surface) that would imply there was a hole/crack that was repaired.
-If possible, insure the wood frame inside the fiberglass isnt rotting.
-Look at the screens if you plan on using the windows.
-And of course, always measure for fit.

When you find a blemish, over-exaggerate and make a big deal in order to drive the cost down .

Thanks for the info! FWIW, does anyone know the cost to replace T-Grip locks? Maybe Leer still has the keys, but this would help me set a more realistic price.

Well I picked one up today. Test fit it & color was dead on. There was no lock and I will need to find some weather stripping as it doesn't have the railing system included. Figured I would just clamp it to the rails of the bed. Also the mfg wants $40 for a new lock assembly. Anyone know if they are universal or where else to look?
Couple of issues but it was in great shape & the price was right.

I'm trying to hook up the lights on it and I need to know which one of the green wires to tap into for the break, since it is a dual filiment.
Also there is a dome light I would love to hook up but I assume I need to run a new wire down to get constant power?

Who else has done this and may be able to give me some help?

    Thanks in advance

Man I am luck I'm under $300 but mine was already matched to my color. It has a few scratches here and there but nothing too bad or worse than the truck. I will certainly get racks for mine.
What wire did you tap for the break light? Solid green or green-red? I have to get that done before I get pulled over.

Do you legally need the third brake light? I always thought you just needed the primary 2.

You can wire your dome light to your taillight (the con being you can only turn it on when your headlights are on.)

I'm not sure if I understand your question regarding the wire correctly, but you should only hook up the brake wire to the the third brake light. I just stripped both wires and tested them with my headlights on to see which was the brakelight. Sorry if I didn't understand your question...

Lost track many, many mods ago.
You just bought this topper a little over a month ago, spray painted it black and added your "custom" touch to it but on top of all of that, you only paid $75 for it. Now you're trying to sell the exact same topper for $350...?

They make low profile towers. I would just trade or sell those towers and get a low profile version, only if you use the rack tho. That just my .02 still looks good!

I didn't want to strip any wires if I could hook them into the plug. The break light socket has two pos. wires running one for breaks one for driving lights. One solid green and one green-red striped.
And I think I may as a temporary fix wire the dome to the driving light. I will get on it this weekend. We'll see if I have time to run a wire front the front or not.

The third brake lights I have seen do not have a wire for the driving light/taillight. It should be for the brake light only. In some states it is illegal for the third brakelight to light up like a taillight. Are you sure one of the wires is not for the dome light?
