No, they can be restrictive at high RPM WOT, or just plain clog. Plus, they look whack IMHO. OEM didn’t think they were needed because the petcock already has a filter/strainer. Gotta keep the inside of the tank clean tho but that’s crucial no matter what for those carbs!

Fuel pickup in the tank has a pretty fine mesh screen over it, so I don't.

Yeah, I’ve been learning of best practices etc. ethanol free fuel and using stabilizer(someone mentioned something before). The tank was cleaned and redkote was applied.

just had some leaking the other day for some reason though but after riding the last couple days it’s not happening. I turn off the petcock and run it before I get to my destination.

Was thinking couldn’t hurt but yeah I have read it can affect flow.

How do people take off the rear wheel/jack the bike without a center stand?

I need to work on the brake next. I guess the only solution is to remove partially the exhaust and jack up there while I search for a center stand.

It's been great weather here the last few days. Nice cool ride into work and not been scorching hot during the day(for the folks not stuck inside working)

Just had a new Kendon 3 rail trailer delivered to my work's loading dock at lunch, received a lot of looks and interest. Sure, its a little pricey but i think you get what you pay for, and the resale should be half of your cost 10 years down to road. They are running a Summer sale 15% off, free freight and free storage cover. Rolls around nice on concrete and I can stand it up with maybe one hand, average person would have no problem moving this around and lifting it up. Fits two full size bikes and should function as a utility trailer for home depot/dump runs.

On my CB750 I take off the slip on, so the clamp and one bolt to remove, then put a scissor platform jack thing underneath with the cradles on the frame rail so I'm not jacking on the oil pan. I think it was $60 or so bucks, similar to this one:

The once a month (or 2.. or 3..) KLX outing! It's so nice and pristine compared to my other 2, I find myself not riding it much and keeping the miles down. '09 with 1500 or so on the clock.

536 miles today with a total elevation gain of 29,400 feet.

Had a super pissed off flagger lady at a construction zone threatening to call the cops because I rode up the shoulder to the front of the 50+ cars waiting. Apparently she’s never seen that before and thinks it’s illegal and dangerous and OMG the worst most evil thing you could possibly do.

EFF BEING BUSY WITH WORK AND MISSING THIS THREAD..... sorry for all the quotes but I had to catch up.

A little welder is SOOOO handy. Gonna quote myself directly below from another thread. Literally 200$ all in (welder, wire, tip gel, splatter spray, helmet, gloves, flux tip/hammer). Just welded up air bag brackets for the truck this past weekend, welded up a front wheel chock for the trailer a couple months ago, welded up the crash bars on my tenere when i bought it. Its paid for itself for sure.

I Dont want to turn this in to an oil thread...... BUT.

I pretty much have been exclusively using Rotella T6 5w-40 (synthetic) in all of my motos for damn near two decades. Its JASO MA/MA2 certified for use in motorcycles (wet sump clutches - no energy conserving additives) and its ~ 20-25$ for a 4 quart jug. Never an engine failure in hundreds of hours of riding dirt 50+k miles on the street over many motorcycles (air cooled, liquid cooled, street, dirt you name it) in all sorts of conditions (below freezing to over 115*f)

The ONLY motorcycle that I actually CHOOSE to use the standard dino Rotella T4 15W-40 in is the new to me Super Tenere. I did an oil change with the Synthetic T6 5w-40 when I got it and noticed not long after (200-300 miles) that shifting was a smidge rough. Did some digging and the Rotella T6 5w-40 doesn't have the greatest shear strength (nor to most wide spread - meaning cold to hot weight - synthetics - your 0w-30's 5w-40s or 10w-50s n the like). This had never been an issue before as none of my other motorcycles had a shaft drive which includes a bevel gear output to turn the rotation 90* to go back. But apparently this produces lots of force and will break down oil pretty quick if it doesnt have enough shear strength to combat this drive setup. Changed to the T4 and zero issue or change in shift quality after 3k miles so far.

Works for me, means an oil change on the tenere (calls for ~3.7 quarts with filter, i just put in 4 as thats what comes in the jug) is cheap Rotella T4 15w-40 @ 15-18$.

Those looking for motorcycle oil, do your due diligence for your own accord, but yall might consider the Bolded above as cost effective oils with a proven great track record in motorcycles. Also note I bolded those specifics as those are the only two that are JASO MA/MA2 certified for motorcycles with wet sump clutches (there are I believe other weights of T6's that dont as they have energy conserving additives)

The VTX1800 is slept on. My pops had one, what a stupid smooth torque monster. Just roll on the throttle to light up the rear tire. Shaft drive easy maintenance and reliable. Loved that bike. And thats a good looking specimen!

Startron Enzyme Fuel treatment is what I have been using and with proper storage (draining the carb) I havent had fuel related issues on carbed vehicles in years even with 2+ yr old SHITTY california fuel.

Rear tire without a center stand. Grab a floor jack, lift under the right (throttle) side peg to tripod on the kickstand, floor jack and front tire.
