If the truck is incapable of carrying the load capacity it is wasted, IMO.

I bought it used so that wasn't and option for me, but I agree it needs all of the cleats.

So the SE is inferior by your logic because the truck can carry more?

I have thought about getting the rear window guard. Wasn’t sure how it would look until I saw this. It looks good and it does serve a purpose.

I mean we're talking about the load capacity of the bed sides(which is lower than that of the truck), so no. The SE is more or less perfectly matched to the Tacoma, IMO.

Can the crossbin slide back about 4 inches from the cab?

Long bed for the win! I've got the Cross Bin 13. DB recommends keeping the Cross Bin tight up against the cab to keep contents of Bin from bouncing around. And moving it might interfere with locking rods or tools if you are using the tool bars. But hey, it's your truck.

    Diamondback Switchback a good option.

just ordered one...they say it will take 3-4 weeks...I do like that they gave a 10% Military Discount.

How is the cover as far as keeping rain out? Did you add additional weather stripping? Thanks

Mine is relatively dry with no extra enhancements or modifications to the standard install. Only a little bit of moisture creeps in.

I like everything about my SE except for one. With my SE the issue has never been water encroachment, it's the thing get so f-ing hot. After the vehicle has been driven, with the wind passing over it, it's not too bad. But sitting in the sun for awhile, esp lately with the high ambient temps we've been having here in NC, you can literally burn yourself touching it. I went to open it the other day and I had to jerk my hand off of the rear locking handle to keep from getting burned. I can't even image how hot it would get in someplace like the US South West. I've been tossing around the idea of keeping a length of light colored outdoor carpet in the bed to place on the cover when I'm at someplace like the beach so I can place things on it. I guess the trade off is in the winter it keeps warm enough to keep snow and ice from accumulating.
Edit I'm thinking I probably made a comment like this in another thread.

I ordered one yesterday...They say it'll take 3-4 weeks to get it...looking forward to it. I'm not a huge fan of covers but I decided to try one.

I ended up not getting the Switchback because the panel closest to the cab does not lift up; bought an Undercover tri-fold with Linex coating. It's not as durable as the Switchback but it was nice when we went to the beach to be able to fold all three panels up to fit four bikes in the bed.

You already made your choice and it's a good option and you're happy which is all that matters. But I think you can mount a bike rack ON the Switchback and then the bed is free for stuff. Just another option for folks on the fence.

I went with the HD and honestly couldn’t be happier. I got mine on their outlet store, for a few hundred bucks less than list. That made the price of the HD only about an $100 more than the SE, which was an easy choice for me. Only defect was the Diamondback logo on the back was under sprayed, nonissue and non-noticeable for me.

I travel for work a lot and need to lock up my stuff in a watertight place when I do. This cover gives me the sense of security I need and the watertight protection I want.

Lifetime warranty is also a plus! Still applies to outlet products. I just scrounged the outlet everyday for about a week until one popped up. They update it pretty frequently and it’s an easy way to get a killer deal on a great product.

I appreciate and support any company that appreciates our military and first responders so I didn't mind paying the premium and got the HD solely for the extra cleats that I did not want to install myself
