And for those of you repeating the same BS regarding rubberized/tar coatings:

Here is a pic of my 2014 Chevy work van that’s been sprayed with rubberized coating. Undercarriage never gets maintained/washed, ever. These vans are abused to hell. Do you guys see any issues, rust, “trapped water”?

In fact, I’ve been there for almost 10 years and not a single issue with rust on these vans.

If it’s prepped and applied properly, it’s good to go.

    Calm down?

    I’d make it worse.

I’d say , “See, if you wouldn’t get mad at me for not reason like this, I wouldn’t need a girlfriend”.

BTW, She’s a lot nicer too.
She don’t yell at me like you do.

My point is that shoddy fraying rubber (at 3 months) along the entire backside of the c channel is an obstacle to proper rust proofing and an invitation for rust issues down the road for people unaware that it's there.

Also, I'm aware that it's a metal frame and that frames will eventually rust, but thank you for your in depth analysis anyway .

I think you might be projecting considering you don't know anything about me, but I'm happy that my post could awaken such curiosity in you .

Should it be removed before applying fluid film, or should I just assume the fluid film will work into any gaps that may occur?

Wouldn't the rust be under the rubberized coating?

What if it's not prepped or applied properly?

Man that gooey stuff applied at factory is great. Leave it there, it’s there for a reason. Spray your undercarriage with FF and enjoy life/truck.

If rubberized/tar coating is applied over rust yes.

Your question and line of reasoning is stirring the pot.

We get A LOT of trolls on here who stir shit up for no reason.

Happy to answer your questions if they are legit, but the general attitude on here to bs sounding questions is “this is a troll”

    It’s nothing personal

Rust doesn't occur overnight in the literal sense

By having any coating over metal, whether painted or not, will seal that area away from moisture

Your potato camera doesn't capture well to what length the "coating" extends or anything but I would first check on the other side if it's there as well

As for trolling? What do I gain from it?

I thought you were cause tons of vehicles leave the manufacturing line with seam sealer and other sorts of coatings that may seem "random" to others

Which I have to ask, is this your first new vehicle?

I know nothing about these coatings.

How about if a rock skips up and damages the coating? Wouldn't salt brine make its way in during the winter after they salt the roads and just fester?

Oh, kind of like you were doing lol

I would certainly try to avoid it.

I guess I'm unreasonable to look into properly rustproofing a brand new frame. If I wanted to cosmoline the frame, how would I do it with rubber along the entire c-channel?
