Stock Tacoma brakes are horrible and it's why I upgraded the brakes on mine. You mentioned all of the parts were replaced, did a reputable shop bleed your trucks brakes for you after the parts were replaced?

I had it done at Poway Toyota where I have generally had good luck. Sometimes I take my 06 Tacoma to The Truck Shop on Miramar Road in San Diego for other major work.
Toyota of Poway bleed the lines twice after I took it back and told them I did not like the results. The brakes are still weak, as they have been for some time even before the major components were replaced. Maybe the 3rd try will be the charm?
Next time I take in in for an oil change (they have good oil change coupons) I'll give it a shot again.
    Thanks for your response.

Does anyone have the software to run the ABS system for brake bleeding? I have bleed the brakes manually, but I wanted to see if there was more to gain by running the ABS. I’m in the Sacramento/Napa area. I’m happy to pay for some help. Yes, I have done the dirt parking lot trick!

I have a 2005 Tacoma, with the tundra booster/MC and just installed a residual valve. A little help from my TW friendswould be great!

Can you explain why the ABS system needs to "run" when bleeding the brakes? I've been complaining about the lack of braking on my 06 Tacoma forever. All major components have been replaced-brake booster, etc. and new pads installed, my brakes still suck. Dealer installed...does the dealer always follow the procedure mentioned above for bleeding the brake lines?

Air gets stuck in the ABS module. The tech stream can open the abs solenoids individually so the air is purged out of the module. Not getting the air out of the ABS module will make your brakes spongy

Why did you install a residual valve?

Thanks a bunch. This gives me a good head start on asking MORE questions when I take my Tacoma back in shortly to the Dealership that redid my brake system.

I never did the techstream stuff. Just bled my brakes like normal and they work flawlessly after the upgrade except that i don't have ABS, but that's a pre-existing condition from a bad sensor harness and has nada to do with the upgrade.

If you don’t let the brake lines between the abs module and the brake calipers go empty you will not get air in the Abs module. Changing a master cylinder will also introduce air to not the abs system. ABS does not have to be working either. If there is air in the module you get spongy brakes regardless of it being operational.
