The flooding is going to be intense. I've seen predictions of some spots getting a years' worth in a few hours. Like all tropical systems you don't know until you know, but it'll be a thing for sure.

Yeah the news keeps telling people to stay home once it starts, roads will be crazy. My mother in law is in town and leaving Sunday afternoon, which is when it's supposed to hit.... Gonna have to see what happens with her flight.

Last winter's rainfall combined with this and the el nino season coming in Fall....we are getting all that water we needed so badly.

Normally, being a jaded east coaster, I'd say don't think twice, it won't be a big deal, but the elevations and geography/terrain that exist out there will make a different beast. The same way that a solid tropical storm or cat 1 will wreak more havoc here in the northeast than down in the southeast on many occasions. It's just such a random event out there ya don't know what it'll be like until it happens.

Gotta say, it's kind of nice having a good warning in advance of a big natural event like this... normally we deal with wildfires and earthquakes which give you zero warning

Not that this is a natural disaster level event but still. They are really talking it up all over the news, all I heard about on the way home from work.

 

At least I'd be very very comfortable waiting for a tow.

 

I’m curious how the infrastructure will hold up. Stuff out east has a lot of hurricane resistance designed in, stuff out west is designed not to fall over when the ground wiggles.

Well, Navy people do, but they ask every one of us who have spent our lives in the water, it's become sort of an assumption here, which is weird. But I know private citizen watermen who have helped train em, so I guess it makes sense.
I literally had to convince my mailman that I wasn't a Seal.

 

Haha right? Sometimes we just think, "Oh cute, someone else is getting a storm." But it can wrong pretty quickly.

It is undoubtedly one of the better aspects of a slow moving system, you get time to figure it out. They'll hype it for sure. But at least you can see what's happening and take precautions.

 

Yah it'll be interesting to see how it goes. I think south of the border will be rough but I'm curious if somewhere like L.A. gets actual an actual TS hit.
