Truck is loaded up for the Sonora Pass area, but I'm so very tempted to storm chase. Desert hydrology (almost an oxymoron) is one of my favorite natural wonders. Seeing it in action, safety, would be epic.

This storm is really shaping up for some wetting rain.

The safely part is going to be the issue. If this thing holds to current forecasts I'm expecting major washouts on all the local trails including a lot of stuff in DV. In the NOAA forecast discussion for Bishop they pointed out this is the first time EVER that a high risk of flooding from the Weather Prediction Center was issued for this area. That's a pretty big indicator right there. Stay safe and stay away from water crossing and canyons.

Inyo County SO has issued flood warnings. The track is definitely through the area.

Good luck to you guys. I’m kinda wanting to see some of your storm chasing pics and reports but be careful. Driving around in tropical storms is tough and dangerous.

Packing up to fish in the Sierras, but I don't think I can resist... will likely be out storm watching in the deserts this weekend.

What pattern is good for the Amargosa pupfish? You can still fish desert run off, catching might be a different story.

I wish I had this coming Monday to mountain Fish hungry trial, fish in the valley for striper, and chase storms. I've never seen a fish more hungry than before one of these summer low pressure systems. I will be up at the lake tonight and tomorrow, and we'll climb up to get coverage to check forecast. Might be headed down 395 at some point

my stormwatching 7-8 days ago may have been run of the mill compared to expectations of Hilliary, but that was enough lightning thunder wind and rain to get me thru August. have fun.

So tempting to join the fun. I've been lucky twice last year during the flooding events. You know the once in a century storm? Lol guess it's not that infrequent.

Eh, if the storms keep coming, maybe they’ll just stop fixing the roads and DV will turn into high clearance 4WD only lol

I'm still waiting on credible information for the Salt Tram road after last year's washout. That's the storm that chased me off the mountain.

It could be fun to ride this storm out in a well protected cabin somewhere...but I'm working.

Do you guys think the flooding/damage will be worse in DV than what they had a year ago? (I think it was a year ago, I'm losing track of time).
