Grills are one of the easiest things to take on or off and replace and fix give it a try before all the complaining on here no offense meant.

this is a discussion you should be having with the decision maker,,, your insurance company. They paid good money to have this truck repaired (I am assuming they did??) and they want it fixed correctly too. Should someone not finished or properly finished the job, they will surely get involved.

The only point I am trying to make is that the truck was purchased at the Toyota dealership, with aftermarket parts.
My fault I guess for not having noticed it.
I am sure I can get it fixed, but I shouldn’t have to,after all it was not bought at ?$&@?$ used car lot.

Does the VIN show the truck as an OEM TRD Pro? That can be checked online at multiple sites. If it does, then make the insurance company pay for a new Pro Grill. If the VIN doesn’t show the truck as OEM TRD Pro, then the dealer you bought it from scammed you.

How many messages is a few?

It's a grille, probably the most visible thing on the truck. Toyota certifies the maintenance and functionality; they're not going to crawl over it with a fine toothed comb to see if any components were replaced, modified, or upgraded.

Follow-up question: would you be just as upset if the grille was a $500 aftermarket upgrade with additional lighting and a light-up emblem?

You bought a used truck... don't be surprised if you find other things that have been replaced with non oem parts. My dealership installs all kinds of aftermarket parts on brand new trucks they have for sale (wheels, lifts, grills, step bars, you name it.) Afterwards, they raised the price another $20,000 lol.

Dealers make mistakes all the time. Most of the time is the other way around. I bought a certified used “SR5” that was actually a debadged TRD OR (believe it or not once upon a time the top model).

The question we have is who took the grill? Was it the thieves (maybe the thief had a taco too)? Or did they sell you a different model truck with aftermarket grill? If the former I’d get the insurance involved. If the latter then you can go complain at the dealer but these sales are usually “as is.”

IF the truck is actually an OEM TRD Pro, AND it’s got an ‘aftermarket’ pro grill…I’d venture to say it was in an accident and repaired at the cheapest shop.

That would make sense. And would not be on carfax if they used a cheapo repair shop/Craigslist body shop guy.

Contact a good lawyer, get the local news involved, and get a torch! A aftermarket part on a used truck... say it ain't so!! :annoyed:
