Should I change my rear diff fluid?

You guys think I should change out my fluid? I never did the breather mod :/ any other criticism? I've never gone through water like that.

 

Water can get sucked into the diff when the diff cools from being submerged. In my opinion, you did not spend enough time in the the water for cooling to be a factor.

alright, whew! thanks guys. I did a few more runs through though, but that makes sense what you said so I don't think it was enough time in to cool at all. Thanks again!

 

I've been through more mud and water than that x100. I have not once changed it. Never had a problem, never did breather mod.

My uncle NEVER changed his rear diff fluid at 140k miles with tons of deep water crossings and even got suck in deep water. If his rear diff is fine then you shouldn't worry.

 

I definitely wouldn't recommend going that long without changing the fluid...the plug acts as a magnet as well and catches any small metal shards that may wear off the gears over time. Over time the plugs magnet gets full of shards and it won't catch extra metal floating around. I changed mine at 70K miles using Mobile 1 Full Synthetic. If you do change the fluid just pick up a new plug from Toyota, I think there 5 or 6 bucks
