hit up alpine, the 905 is out and so is proctor. The 905 has the new freeway and proctor is blocked in now. I usually go out by Barona or just cross into TJ and hit up the beach. But Alpine is a nice trail. We've had a couple runs out there.

If you head east on the 8 there are lots of spots starting around Pine Valley all the way out to Ocotillo. Solo trips as a 2wd are a little sketch in my opinion, make sure you have cell service, a method for solo recovery (shovel, hi-lift, strap, shackles, maybe some carpet or something to get traction if sand).

I used the below book to get an idea where to go and what the conditions are like. Picked up a couple maps for more detail and to see the spurs off the trails.

    Get this book: http://www.4x4books.com/gtcas.htm

This is a good website to check out:

    I've lost track
I live in Alpine. If you're gonna come up this way to hit some trails let me know and I'll go with you. Going out solo is pretty sketchy unless you know the area and are comfortable wheeling your truck. But for your first runs you should either wait for a mellow group run, or come up one morning and check it out with a couple local guys. Matt (RecklessTaco) is always down to go and he lives closer then me to a lot of them

To 05offroad, you listen. Yes. :) He's the man behind Alpine and Reckless is the man behind Pine Valley.
