Hello all, first post here, I've read plenty from old posts but I need to reach out with a question I cannot find previously answered.

I own a 2010 with the factory LED taillights, that is the partial LED housing, and I've been wanting to swap out the taillights with aftermarket, specifically these.

However, there's the warning on the page "Not compatible with factory equipped led tail lights (The plug and play feature on these tail lights is compatible with factory incandescent tail lights. Factory LED taillights are not compatible.)"

My question is, what do I have to do to convert either my wiring or the aftermarket taillights over to be able to use them? Is it a voltage/current issue, or simply a connector?

I've looked at the TIS wiring diagrams and scoured the internet for answers, but cannot come up with a clear answer. Every google result is about converting standard wiring to LED, not the other way around. Any answers appreciated thanks.

    1) the manufacture has a rep for products that don't last long
    2) the vendor likes to deface public land and is not liked around here

Those are cheap ebay and Amazon lights that usually don't last nearly as long as the OEM and sometimes get fogged up with condensation.
What are you wanting that the stock LEDs don't have? If you are wanting LED turn signals you can buy some good quality Diode Dynamics or some decent quality Sylvania LED bulbs like I did with my last truck and those lasted almost 3 years before my truck was totaled. If you go the LED bulb route you'll need to add resistors which are sold at all major auto part stores or if you have an Off Road or Taco without DTRL you can get a LED compatible flasher that will cure the hyperflash.

Welcome to Tacoma World. As others have said, don't buy anything from that Beast vendor. They are douchebags. Another external thread with douchebaggery. Avoid like the plague.

Where should you buy the lights from instead? I strongly recommend eBay user dt_moto since I have purchased from them several times. The products are the same minus the markup that other douchebag influencer parts sites charge. Why pay other guys extra?

How to get them to work? Full details read this post on my build because I'm too lazy to copy/paste it all. Short answer: no guarantees but you probably need to buy Toyota wiring harness 81555-04150 which is the harness from non-LED trucks. I have Spyder lights and this is what worked to make them function on my 2015 that had OEM LED housings. Again no guarantees but when I researched I also found no other voodoo in the wiring other than this part. Mine have been working 100% for the past two years with no issues.

Comparison of my OE connector for the LED lights on the left, and the 04150 non-LED variant on the right. Notice how the little tabs are different sizes and slightly different offsets. New plug fits perfect in the Spyder tail lights.

Thanks a lot for the details wi_taco, and that's for the heads up everyone on tacomabeast, haven't bought anything from them but will avoid from here on out. Honestly probably wouldn't have since I price compare, so eBay is usually the route.

I'll give the wiring harness replacement a go.

Edit: also, the reason for the change is I hate the oem ones. I thought they were some cheap ricer aftermarkets when I bought the truck used 6 months ago. I prefer simple and clean looks.
