I did some quick searching and didn't see anything obvious but if anyone can point me to a good thread on this topic, much appreciated.

I have a short bed w lomax tonneau cover and recently installed a mountain hatch because sitting on the factory tailgate for an extended period was a little less comfortable than I expected. I have two small boys who apparently really like to play in the truck bed. I have a bed mat so seating is super comfy now but the side rails aren't all that back-friendly.

    I'm contemplating this:
    https://caliraisedoffroad.com/colle...ucts/2005-2019-toyota-tacoma-bed-molle-system

    My questions:
    1. Does anyone know of a molle mounted (or direct rail mounted) seatback cushion or cushion of any sort which might space my back away from the tonneau rail (boy does that question make me feel pathetically old)? I'm thinking I can probably cobble something together from any old cushion and some brackets.

    2. Are there other options for side molle panels than this manufacturer which I should look at?

    3. It looks like this model blocks the entire rail but their other model (which doesn't block the rail from cleats) supposedly doesn't work with a tonneau cover? Does anyone have a side molle panel who might comment on the differences/specifics? I'm thinking this model is spaced further away from the side so it clears the brackets which connect to the tonneau rails?

    4. Are there any downsides to adding a molle panel to the sides other than potential loss of rail use?

I have a roll n lock. The screw towards the cab was a pia to set up but I don’t think tonneau equipped trucks to have that problem.

I was thinking, I can just put some molle pouches and stuff them with rope/tie downs / bungees and I get comfy back _and_ easily accessible gear retention, a win-win.

Well, interestingly, the victory4x4 molle panels I ended up buying won’t work easily with the Leer 100xq shell I put on yesterday. The bolts don’t line up properly with the rails spaced away from the sides using Victory’s brackets.
I think I will end up buying the Caliraised panels and selling the Victory ones. Which is a small bummer but hey, live and learn.

I have BuiltRight’s panels, which mount under the rail. Works perfectly great with my LoMax tonneau. 0B38D117-8273-4FD7-9C26-7AB66A8F9E4C.jpgED4F71AD-D222-403F-9EE5-99DD2D600CAA.jpg

Yeah, my Lomax worked great with the victory molle. It’s just the Leer which has very precise tolerances. I’ll need to restore the lateral position of the bed rails which eliminates victory or any rear mount option. The leer shell mounting scheme is great in some ways but it blocks some of the utility of the rail at the same time.

i went with the ebay molle panels, but i'm a long bed. also can't tell you how they work, i'm in the process of modding them to suit my whims, which aren't fully determined!

is that an air tank and compressor setup?

Late question, just got a Lomax tonneau and was going to go with Builtright molle panels as well. Does installing the panel behind the bed utility rail make the tonneau cover less water proof or has it impacted using the lomax in any way?

Cheap lounge chair cushions! You can just use an adhesive and glue Velcro tabs to them or sew on some ties. Plus an old tv mount as “free ghetto molle.” Consider a thin plywood sheet too so you can make it recline.

Worked out great! Definitely a bit more space in between their mounting bracket and the bed wall but so far doesn't seem to be impacting the water proof lining. Granted it doesn't rain much in SoCal, but I have taken it to a carwash using a pressure washer directly there and didn't see any water in the bed so I would say success with Lomax tonneau so far and can update again later down the road.

Looks like it is time to order the other side and back lol!

That's awesome. Glad to hear. I was thinking if you do ever have a leak issue a rubber sealing bulb with a wider profile might be a quick fix.
