Honk Horn with Remote Entry?

With tinnitus ringing my middle-aged ears like an air raid siren, I can barely hear the beep when I lock or unlock the doors on a busy street, even with the beep volume at maximum.

Has anybody figured out a way to make it honk the horn when you press the button, instead of beeping?

 

No but the lights flash

 

If I had the EWD it should be simple for me to figure it out.

 

That's the next best option...

 

Yea, I subscribed for two days, hoping I could download them all, but apparently that's not an option. Too expensive just to figure out an occasional minor annoyance.

 

Just as easy to use the horn as the lights .

It would come down to just energizing the horn.

If I had a newer Truck to look at I could figure it out.

Any local friends into these trucks?

I find the chirping lock to be annoying to me, probably neighbors and even people in parking lots. The flashing lights are sufficient for me.

 

The horn is ground actuated. When you press the steering "disk" you provide ground to close the circuit to the horn relay coil.
The locking buzzer could be used to actuate an added relay to provide ground to the horn relay coil. Posi-taps do not have the tendency to sever the tapped wire.




P.S. There might also be a horn and/or buzzer setting in the TechStream.

 

Another thing to keep in mind; while you might enjoy hearing the confirmation, others very well might not. Depending on where you live and commute.

 

Hopefully I'll have a company truck soon, so I wouldn't have to worry about that. Otherwise, I'd use the key to unlock it in the early morning. It would be nice if you could have the beep when you lock, but not unlock.
