    hey there!
I'm new to the forums and I think I can use some of your advice!
Well I have this 2001 tacoma prerunner manual for 12 years, and it has 156,000 miles on it!
My wife and I love this vehicle for many reasons and we would not like to change vehicles the problem I have is that it needs a lot of work on the chassis since we live in ohio and here the winter and salt rot everything, the truck is not in full damaged but it has notable damage to the chassis and paint!
My question is, do you think it is advisable to spend on welding and painting or it is better to save to buy one in better condition?
The rest of the vehicle is also perfect, the engine and everything, but it's sad to think of leaving it like that!
    what would you do ?
    thank you!!

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
Pictures required to make better guesses.

And if you have a prerunner it doesn't have a 2.4. The 2.4 only came in the 5 lug trucks.

If your truck is a 5 lug that will make it harder to justify saving.

No need to worry about the paint.

Frame appears to be toast. It will be worse inside that what's seen outside.

Next vehicle do preventative care annually with something like Fluid Film or Cosmoline.

I’d part it out and say goodbye
Next time you get a Toyota, do rust prevention (fluid film and the like)

    Welcome to the Forum!

That being a 5 Lug I would not dump another 3 or 4 thousand or more into fixing it.

Sell it as is or keep it as a parts truck and find another of that year!

Good Luck no matter what you decide.
