    Guess it is all relative.

Know people are complaining about the cost of battery replacement. We just spent $15K for a new engine plus other repairs on the ‘99 Taco. Vehicle is 24 years old with 435K miles on it. So not bad as far as service life goes. Curious what the service life on a battery pack is. Not to mention the electric motors. Is it worth fixing like our 1st Gen? Probably can’t the money back out of it, though might get another 24 years out of it.

If that becomes reality then that will be great. I don’t think there are enough high mileage Teslas out there yet to know if this will be the norm. One person supposedly has a million miles but is on its third battery. I think there are a couple around 300K miles. Cars like the Leaf have much worse battery lives.

I remember watching a Tesla rebuilder parts guy video and he said when the battery pack goes 'bad' it's not all the batteries it could literally be 1 bad cell and he's replaced 1 bad cell but Tesla and other car companies don't replace the one. They replace the entire battery unit. There's a diagnostic screen on all EVs that show every single battery state. So the 'Right to Repair' bill for tech must pass to avoid gouging customers. So a potential 10-20k battery replacement could end up being under $1,000 if the bill passes.

That would be good if it did. Remember reading that bill came about from farmers and companies like John Deere. JD only wants their techs servicing the machines, the farmers want otherwise.

We could have just replaced the heads, and saved money, but figured with an engine with that money miles on it, might as well cry once.

Wonder if it is the same with battery packs. Why go through all the labor, just so another cell or cells to fail in the future. Seems like they should have a quick change pack instead, then repair those packs as needed.

The color coded flares does tone it down a bit. Gotta say it is growing on me.

Another cell could go bad and require more cell replacements. If they keep constantly failing than there's something else wrong not the batteries. Possibly software or BMS units. But I've never heard of any battery pack recalls on an EV unless it was something like the Chevy Bolt and Jaguar battery fires.

Dead horse, but man I am convinced that cow catcher just ruins the look of this thing in every single picture. Someone photoshop it out plz.

I like the truck as shown though, looks like a truck and not a transformer mid transformation.

I don't mind my flairs, but even in Ohio, they have faded over the last 6 1/2 years. My biggest gripe on the black flares is the make any wheel and tire look small.

It is weird, like the black on the 3G, but painted on the 4G.

Wanted black on mine since I run down dirt and gravel roads all the time. My 1Gs are pock marked. Glad they went to plastic over the fiberglass like on the 1G.

And road salt on that black plastic turns it greyish quicker.

Hmmm. Man I’m tryin’. Really hard. I am.

I previously advocated that lower trims might actually look better, but…Maybe it’ll help if I just look at it less for a while.

I’d drive an ugly Toyota over either regardless, but is this really more handsome than the GM twins or new Ranger?

Why do you think the replacements will be $20k? Most are already much lower, and the savings on fuel and maintenance more than make it still a good option after a quarter million miles or so

    Nope.

Seeing more and more GMs in person, they are pretty sharp. Not that it matters, DCSB won’t work for me.

Double Cab vs Access Cab. The bed is shorter but there is more room inside. Not everything you will be carrying is >5' long right? or taller than the roofline? Plus the stuff inside is safer (locked) and not exposed to the elements.
