Factory Service Manual Question (hard copy, not the digital file)

I’m looking to guy my specific year factory service manual in a hard copy.

Questions:

1. I see that there are manuals listed as “pre runner” and some as “pre runner and s-runner.” Yet there is no distinction on the front cover (at least by the listing images).

Based on the 03 digital FSM floating around, it seems like all motors and 2WD and 4WD are covered in the FSM.

Can someone confirm?

2. There’s Volume 1 (maintenance, preparation, specs and diagnostics) and Volume 2 (engine, body, chassis and electrical).

I also saw Volume 1a and Volume 2a.

What are these “a” volumes all about?

I know there were some updates to torque specs (from the 03 FSM floating around) - would the 2004 FSM have the corrected torque specs in it or could the “a” volumes be updates?

So way long ago, I picked up the hard copy manuals from eBay.

1. 2002 Tacoma Repair Manual Vol. 1 - This included a short section on Maintenance, Preparation, Specifications and a large section on Diagnostics (explanation and trouble shooting steps for the codes which might be thrown when there is an issue)

2. 2002 Tacoma Repair Manual Vol. 2 - Essentially the content of the PDF which floats about the net. Covers Engine, Chassis, Body and Electrical

3. 2002 Tacoma Electrical Wiring Diagram (self explanatory... contains every wiring diagram for the tacoma)

Prior to starting the 2 to 4WD conversion, I ordered the Aug. 2002 Edition of the A340E, A340F, A343F AT Transmission Repair Manual. Its a nice and handy reference. There is a similar PDF floating about TW.

eBay for hardcopy manuals. Be sure its a reputable seller - no negative feedback.

I went to Toyota dealer in Houston for the FSM manuals....long time ago.i don't have Electrical Wiring Diagram Book...i'm sorry for My English

 

No need to apologize. Finding the FSMs at a dealer's part department today will most likely be impossible. eBay would be the place to look. Same for the EWD.

 

@Madjik_Man - looks like for 2004 that would be applicable, they did have it broken down into more than two VOL labels. More info I guess?

 

So the wiring diagrams aren’t part of the “electrical” in Volume 2?

Electrical Wiring Diagram is another Book...3 books total

 

In the 2002 repair manual (Vol 2), the electrical is a short section on BODY ELECTRICAL.

 

Yep, "volumes" and content differed thru the years.
Same 3 "volumes" for 99. Bought these 2 weeks before picking up the new truck. The only other book for that year was the detailed "auto trans" book, just an expanded version of the auto trans section in vol 2.

I looked over the 1st two pages of returns on an ebay search for "2004 Tacoma Factory Service Manual" and it was the only 1 I saw. I'm sure there are other listings.

 

I'll add that in March of 99 they already came with 3 self adhesive pages with corrections, intended to be stuck over the pages with the incorrect info.
