it does look like it could be an adhesive line from the plastic wrap like protection they use.
Easy fix, just remove adhesive, or have the dealer help if you still think you might have a paint flaw.

When I got my 22 TRDOR, it had the adhesive lines on the hood and roof. That was this past sept. A few washes and now they gone.

OP don’t listen too everyone , keep the truck fairly clean when you can . ( like any vehicle )
And wax it twice a year with a good wax ( like any vehicle ) and the paint will stay fine most of the time
Can there be defects yes , but all companies do. Bottom line if you want your truck to stay nice take care of it .

Agreed. I had a 2015 Tacoma (245k miles) and now a 2019 with 175k miles currently. I never waxed either truck ever, and the paint held up beautifully. Either I’m lucky or people are just too fussy with their criticism.

I did the same and found roof damage from the car carrier on a new taco on the lot.

I wouldn’t worry about your paint overall. White peeling is well documented, otherwise just take good care of it.

Problems associated with basic neglect or downright abuse frequently get blurred here with legitimate issues that require Toyota’s attention. Far more of the latter than the former, btw…grain of salt.

Filter the negative noise & enjoy your new truck!

This. All those people complaining about the paint are also the people who wash their truck once a year and never wax it. Barring any major warranty-level issues (these do exist, just not on the scale people make it out to be) as long as you keep up on your maintenance you'll be fine. But keep in mind, normal environmental conditions in your area also make a huge difference, as do things like being garage parked vs parked out in the middle of the AZ sun 24/7. The more UV and other environmental factors you have in your area, the more work it takes. If you rarely drive it and garage park it then you could get away with little to no maintenance. Just depends on your situation.

I had that. Brought it up to my dealer and they wanted to charge me labor for scratching the roof.

My new 23 Tacoma I got in June came with similar looking adhesive lines all over the front fenders, hood, and roof. They looked like clear coat scratches when we did our walkaround but I looked closer and decided that it was probably adhesive residue. My truck had been totaled and I didn't need anymore delays after being weeks without a vehicle and less than impressed with the dealer customer service so I documented the lines by taking pictures in the dealership parking lot and decided to try and address the issue myself. If I had seen how bad the roof was at the dealership walk around I would have made them do the clean up. Some of the adhesive came off with a normal handwashing but a good bit of it took more work. I ended up needing to hit the stubborn adhesive with 3m general purpose adhesive remover followed by a hand wash. That worked well. A few more small spots of adhesive have shown up once dirt builds up but a quick wipe down with the 3m takes care of it. I'm planning to wax the paint soon since some areas had to be sprayed with the 3m.
