Shudder

Installed a Eibach stage two lift with 1.5 in the rear. I installed the coil overs just the way they were shipped. I’m feeling a slight shudder from 20 to 0. Thoughts?

It could also be pinion angle in the rear driveshaft.

 

I definitely feel it under my feet. I was thinking it was the needle bearings. I know a lot of guys replace them.

 

Put your truck in 4Hi and see if it goes away. If it does, it's the needle bearing. If not, it's likely your pinion angle and your leafs may need to be shimmed.

Do you need to replace the needle bearings on both sides?

 

There's only one on the driver's side. The passenger side doesn't have one.

These trucks run great stock the way they're sent out. Was there a reason you had the need to screw yours up?

Trying to help, but its not what one wants hear. I realize its tough to reason with self inflicted issues.

 

Needle bearings fail on stock trucks too. It's a flawed design, that Toyota continues to crank out.

I throw it in 4wd next time I drive it and see what happens. FYI. I haven’t done an alignment yet. Need tires too, so waiting.

 

I have not heard a single needle bearing failure on a bone stock tacoma. I don't even know if my gen1 tundra was similar, but that truck never had one replaced in nearly the 300k miles I owned it.

 

The alignment could be playing a factor, but my money is on needle bearing or pinion angles.

I had the 30-0 vibration after a lift. It was the rear pinion angle. Angled shims cured it.

 

Well thats a first I've heard. I've spoken with a buddy that services all gen tacomas for common issues. He never mentioned that needle bearing failure for a stock tacoma, and some have over 200k on them. Being this is tw, who knows how the truck was used.
