Not the question I asked. But thanks…

We are talking about buying a new truck here and keep it for 10 years, have $100K on the table what is the best way to spend it?

    The Rivian?

    The Tacoma?

    The F250?

If you ignore all the bs and maintenance costs a Tacoma and an R1T are pretty comparable. In principle a Rivian for $90k plus another $10k in electric to charge, and a Tacoma for $50k plus another $50k in gas, are the same thing. Your $100k is going get you a vehicle and 180,000 miles of travel whichever way you spend it.

Put another way, the money you’d spend to buy a Rivian is roughly equivalent to buying a Tacoma and prepaying the dealer for your first 10,000-11,000 gallons of gas. I’m not sure that too many people would go for that…

Yeah, if you ignore all the bs, they’re pretty comparable. You’re going to do all that with a $100k EV?

A Tundra pro is $72K and a Rivian dual motor with skids and all terrains added is $85K. That $13K difference would be four years worth of gas for me.

Was tying into the other posts of why compare a Tacoma to a Rivian. Threw the F250 in there as a wild card.

But it seems it is getting lost in translation on you.

Just my two cents, but if you are buying a Rivian today, you are paying thousands more than the vehicle is actually worth (first adopter premium). That vehicle will be better, and can be had for less, in a few years.

Only $4,250 difference, but you have to live with only a 4.5s 0-60.

No, it’s not lost at all. We all make decisions based on our own wants and “needs.” You’ve made it clear that the rivian isn’t capable of meeting yours.

The whole point about the rivian is that costs aren’t that much different, but someone said “you didn’t do the math,” so I did several times to show how it works.

Based on your random responses, it sure appeared like it was lost.

Yes, I’m sorry my responses seemed random as the goal posts kept moving and you kept intentionally being obtuse about the math

How the hell much do you guys spend per year on gas? I drive a lot and I spend around $3,000 a year on gas. 10 years would be $30K on gas and 150K miles.

Was I? Asked for your math straight from the get go, and you kept on dodging. By saying I shouldn’t compare a Tacoma and a Rivian and should buy a Tesla (which isn’t a truck) instead. Talk about being obtuse. Just odd responses from you, makes wonder if you’re high or drunk.

Then I finally had to lay all the numbers out for you. Even took screen shots of the Rivian build so you knew exactly what I was looking at.

Me asking for the math pretending I didn’t know was just trying to bring some humor into it. But you don’t seem to get my jokes, should have known better.

You can’t get the tax credit once you option the Rivian over $80K.
