Nobody told *you* that a Tesla meets every one of *your* needs, nor that *you* should buy one.

How is electricity so cheap and gas so expensive where you live? Here in the northeast electricity is triple that and gas is $3.75.
You are paying $50 a month for electric vs $250 for gas. $200 a month is a pretty good savings but how much more did the Tesla cost vs a similar size gas car?

I bring it up, since comparing a Tesla to Tacoma is odd. Car vs Truck. Not sure why you can’t understand that. You keep telling us you’re fairly smart guy. I am starting to have my doubts…

Rivian vs. Tacoma makes more sense since it is lifestyle truck vs lifestyle truck, but you don’t seem to get that either, and only look at power numbers, which is wasted on me since I drive slow and like to take my time. Rather have less power and more range, but they don’t offer that. So you have to play the cards you’re dealt.

You can drag a Rivian and a Tacoma through the Rubicon, a Tesla not so much. You still probably won’t get the comparison is my bet, but not sure I can explain it any simpler.

Tesla 3 Dual Motor is 450hp/471tq and Ford Lightning standard is 452/775. Way more torque but still goes 0-60 in 4.1. A Tesla spec motor in a Tacoma would have more performance than the current engines.

In a Toyota Corporate video this chart was shown for North America and Asian markets.

"Additional Models by 2026" column shows the BEV pickup of some sort. Unless China is getting a pickup it looks that North America will get a BEV pickup BY 2026.

EVs work for some people. They clearly don’t work for you. That guy shared his cost of EV ownership not as a “this is an ideal plan for user @SwollenGoat’s specific situation,” but as a “hey EVs actually can be really cost competitive if they meet your needs.”

Once the Cybertruck hits the market there will be plenty of Tesla vs Tacoma comparisons to go around!

At double, or triple the kWh usage that’s still well south of $2000/year to put over 15k miles on a vehicle….and it will come with 35’s stock with a price tag at or close to a TRD PRO.

Maybe Toyotas solid state batteries can bring the weight down. So they don’t need monster torque to move it.

Well, when you cannot separate your specific situation from that of the general public, you leave yourself open to criticism. Not everybody has your exact needs, and saying that EVs are a good choice for a lot of people doesn’t mean that your specific needs are an effective counterpoint.

    There you go!

While I love the Syd Mead inspired styling, not sure I could give my money to Musk, I like RJ Scaringe a hell of a lot better. That also plays in a factor in buying decisions.

Cybertruck and Rivian styling is too funky for me. The Ford Lightning styling is pretty bland. Would never buy a Dodge but the looks could grow on me.

How hard is it? Need a truck…so I compare trucks. And like to see if an EV truck is plausible. Are you that dense?

Are you high? drunk? We’re you dropped when you were a baby?

How many Tacomas have Toyota sold? Hundred thousands upon hundred thousands of them, would say there are a shit ton of people the have similar needs and wants to me.

Would hope you’re doing this shit just for stirring the pot and not a complete idiot, but I have my doubts.

    Looks great!

Given Ram and Jeeps electrical issues over the years would touch it with a 10’ pole. Make it a fiberglass pole too…

So don’t buy a rivian if you don’t think it meets your needs. Nobody is asking you to do so. You’ve made that clear.

But every time someone says “oh this works for my wife and check out the savings,” you chime in with OKAY BUT HOW DOES IT TOW DIRT BIKES AND CAMP?

Every post isn’t about your specific situation.
