My 96 4runner has a gas light, for what it's worth. Maybe it was omitted on the bare bones models

It has the spot in the cluster for it, but no bulb and none of mine have had the little dingus in the fuel sender that actually turns the light on and off

the 4runner gas gauge is so fucking wonky, it will drop to nearly E with still nearly half a tank left. So the gas light is actually pretty helpful for me lol.

Not that its worth pulling the tank for alone, but if you ever do a pump take apart the sender and use a soft pencil eraser on it and then a little wipe with alcohol and it'll work just like new. They get carbon on the resistive pads over the years and it makes the gauge jump around to E when it hits a carboned up dead zone.

Good to know. Nearly everyone on the 3rd gen T4R page I follow has the same issue yet I rarely hear about inaccurate gas gauges on the 1st gen Tacomas. Kind of weird being such a similar platform. My 04 Taco is pretty spot on.

My 96 did it, so did my 95, when I had it apart to put the Aeromotive 340 pump in I cleaned it... maybe I took a pic...

Guess not, there is a little white PCB inside the grey box that the fuel level arm is attached to, just a soft pencil eraser like you'd find on a Ticonderoga is what you need to get the carbon off and the alcohol gets the little bits of eraser and whatever else off.

Interesting; the 4R gas gauge was always spot on

Mine is on crack, it freaked me out at first thinking fuck something must be way wrong for this thing to be getting 8mpg. Or whatever it seemed like when it got near empty on the gauge. Went to fill it up and only got about 8 gallons in it so I knew the gauge was just weird. Definitely not worth sweating over unless I ever get the opportunity to clean it like Zane said.

That whole "it's your own kid the smell won't even bother you" stuff?

I lasted a shit ton longer in the freaking gas chamber than I do opening that diaper up while holding my breath :bananadead:

Yeah human feces is rancid, pretty much all omnivore shit is rough. Gas mask might be a worthwhile purchase

The worst for me was always when it came time to empty the diaper bin, if you accidentally take a whiff when pulling that bag out....RIP

It was weird how fast the storm just went away for us and the blaring sun/heat came back, kind of depressing. But there was at least a couple days of reprieve I never expected, better than nothing.

And to be honest it wasn't much reprieve, it was muggy as hell.

I suspect the 01-04s do a bit better on gas than the earlier trucks. Maybe it’s the electronic throttle body, or more aerodynamic styling. Idk, that’s just a theory but I could be totally wrong. Anyway, I’m averaging about 17 mpg on 32” KM3s. I’m curious what I’d get with more road oriented 31s.

I like that our bin is sealed so the moment the diaper goes in, it instantly stops smelling

    20230822_105809.jpg

Bags have built in deodorizers or whatever and it has a little scent thing under the lid

yeah ours was pretty good at containing smell too, but you still need to be good about holding your breath when emptying it
