GA Tacoma Owners BS Thread

Has anyone been up to Lake Russel WMA? I'm checking it out with some buddies this weekend and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations as to what I should hit while I'm there.

 

I was there in January. Lake Russel looked good. Nancy Town Lake was a mud pit. Great view from the top of Mt. Chenocetah. It's a lite hike past several small waterfalls through Mountain Laurel to the top. Cool old stone fire tower up there. It's not open frequently, but I wish they'd open it up. I bet the view is pretty cool.

 

Thank you! I will try to see if I can get up there. I'll avoid Nancy Town Lake, I'm 2wd with some KM3s so it'll be a crapshoot. Planning to drive up Currahee as well just for fun. (No real challenge there)

 

That's a pretty fun area just to get into the woods. There is a good bit of camp spots. Multiple hiking trails, creeks to get into or fish. There is a waterfall with a camp spot right by it. The one place up there I have not seen yet is an old railway earth tunnel. 34.556139,-83.437016
That's the coordinates. The problem is there is a gate at the entrance of the trail so you have to walk. Every time I've been I have had people who wanted to give up before we got there. I have no idea what it is exactly. I just found it on the map and I want to go. I've been up there once and it had rained a lot. It was a slippery muddy mess. A lot of fun though.

P.S. I'm hoping with enough momentum I wont get stuck, I'm only 2wd but took rampley just fine so I'm not too worried.

 

When it's dry out there it's just a dirt road and it hasn't rained up there recently so I'm sure you'll be fine. You guys have fun out there.

 

I almost forgot. These coordinates is where sellers rd and middle broad river rd meet. If you are on middle broad river rd don't turn left on to sellers rd. There is some big mud holes down there.

I'll drive up to it and take some pictures, haha. My 2wd will become instantaneously stuck just from looking at it.

 

It's is fun. I was following a wrangler on 35s and she almost got stuck.

 

Really regretted selling my shell so I finally found another one. Got this leer for $600. Its got all the bells and whistles, Thule rack, sliding back glass and full carpet.

Just completed my first Red Clay Rally; what an incredible experience.

If anyone is in need of a GMRS antenna, I highly recommend Big Five Overland. Our communications this weekend were spectacular! It took a beating and still looks new. Multiple sizes, +6dB

The truck performed incredibly well with my YotaWerx tune from @Stormpeacock
Not only was the power and torque performance on point, the fuel economy was the best on my team. With the lack of gas stations on route and lack of time to refuel before camp, this played a huge role in getting through without issue. I highly recommend getting in touch with Rich @Stormpeacock and tuning your vehicle if you haven't already!

 

I done it quite a few years ago. It's a whole lot of fun. I'm glad you had a good one. I saw some people had it rough this year

 

Yea.... One of my teammates blew up his rear diff and went home on a flatbed

ECGS seems to be happy to warranty it though! He'll be taking the truck to them on Thursday, hopefully all goes well.

 

Who did you end up going with? I'm looking to do an exhaust re-route.
