Spotify has really been ramping up the ads lately, or maybe they're just tired of me using their free version for so long. Getting annoying

I started reading it, thanks. I'm familiar with what is inside the shock and have rebuilt a couple but I was trying to get a better understanding on shim stack changes and what's appropriate. I have some shims around the house from other shocks and I have 4 that currently need a rebuild and a little tuning.

on most things, the first Shim has the biggest impact. on the icons with the digressive piston geo and the preload shim, the second shim has more impact.

they kinda feel like shit now tho, needs another rebuild.

Digressive on compression means there's a dish to the piston right? I honestly think I'm going to remove my rate plate, change the first compression shim for a thicker one, add a flutter and stiffen the high speed compression damping just a wee bit to slow down the want to bottom out just a bit.

    yes on piston geo.

you probably don't have a rate plate, that idea was something I added to my stack to try to increase high speed damping while the other techniques decreased low/med and med speed damping

You may be right but if so I don't know what this plate at the bottom (after the .031 thou washer) is then on the compression stack

What interesting timing, aFe (SAW) wrote back to me about shims too...

I guess that large washer is for top out protection

I recall there was a different Shim before the extension spacer on the comp side and a different shim (washer) on the rebound side as well... but don't recall exactly what

No that's for a factory series Sway-a-Way (Camburg, aFe Control), that's the custom valving they came up with for the Tacomas back when they were the first coilovers on the block to bolt in.

The trick is that 3.58s weren't right for any 1st gen truck combo ever. Especially not one equipped with a 3RZ

Is also really doesn't help I had it bored out as big as possible when I rebuilt it lol. It's almost a 3 liter :anonymous:

I had zero reasoning for it other than to say I did it. And because I thought it would give me more torque

    Hey. . . .

My old BMW had a CEL light always on - after I 'totalled' it by destroying the OEM cats, I put cheap ass aftermarket ones on; they failed after 2yr and tripped an O2 sensor code.. who cares [my state didn't so I didn't bother]

My current BMW has a "service engine soon' light on - that has been on for about a year or so. F**king nanny light - it is an O2 sensor but since the car is running fine - no limp mode - again - I don't care . . .
