When the tire shop says "It'll be $35 each to swap the trailer tires out for my new tires." I've been going to this shop for over 20 years and go there all the time to get tires dismounted at $5 each, (atleast 130 wheels and tires in the last year and a half, I know I've been looking for a cheap tire machine. I have a manual tire machine but it's a bitch in hot weather.) the last time I had tires swapped out it cost $15 each. So home I went to sweat my ass off and change the two left side tires, I already had two new tires on both of my spares so now I have four half tread spares and four brand new mounted tires.

 

I dunno, that's a lot of work. I woulda just paid the money

 

Trailer tires are easy to swap because of the taller sidewalls and skinny 5" wide wheels.

If I had the space, I would be doing this too. Ah, the travails of condo dwelling.

 

I'd much rather do this in a paved lot then on my gravel driveway. Lol some day I'll have a shop with a lift.

 

Be glad you're not doing motorcycle tires. Most shops are now over $50 each if you carry in the wheels. Some are even higher. I bought me tire changer during Covid and it's paid for itself already

 

Spent the day napping after my moms final cardiac surgery/procedure. Wanted to work on the truck but sleep prevailed. Now two hours into the fall in-service meetings for the college, which, kinda makes me sad knowing summer is almost over.

But, with the change of seasons, comes the potential for a new option. Fingers crossed Gents...

check one of my posts shortly after...I put a link to the shop that makes them. There are options for the text that they print. Takes a couple of weeks, but it was worth it!
