I like the look of the Glossy black fares, but they're seriously going to show scratches.

What does the Sport do better than the Offroad?

I'd say that has alot to do with the roads in your area. The roads here are rippled washboard like, the Sport ll test drove was way too harsh lMHO.

A friend has a quarter-mile dirt road for a front driveway. Others in this world have driveways that are best described as "off-roading". And others have 30 ft deep 2-place asphalt or concrete driveways.

    Buy what you need.

Or one's preference; I prefer a firmer ride and sharper handling, even when dealing with bad roads.

With coil springs out back, guessing the 4th Gens will have a more comfortable ride.

It always baffles me when people would choose the sport over OR for the ride. All of that can be changed with new shocks, which are a wear item anyways. The front springs are also different, yes, but those are less important and new ones are part of a set of coil overs.

That makes no sense, why buy something which needs to be modified to suit one's tastes when it can be had without any modifications?

I don’t understand people that don’t buy the truck I think they should buy. It’s like these strangers don’t think I fully understand all their needs and preferences.

Lol, I can see myself here.

My big issue with the Sport is really just the cost. As a consumer I find the value of it insulting. It's essentially the same price as an Offroad while costing Toyota a couple bucks more than an SR5 to produce (aside from the TRD level interior). While not to my tastes, there's nothing wrong with the idea or execution of the package itself.

Interesting take; I have a counterpoint. Last year when I bought my Sport I compared it to as close to an identical SR5 as I could, and whaddya know, the Sport was about $1,000 less expensive. Go figure.

I haven't shopped or priced Tacomas since 2019. Maybe things have changed. Perhaps I should save my ire for the SR5 then.

I just compared SR5 and Sport on Toyota, attempting to keep them as close as possible. SR5 MSRP is ~$2,000 less. That's closer than I expected.

The SR5 if configured the same as the Off Road and Sport will have an MSRP of around $1700 less.

I think the key difference between the SR5 vs. TRD Sport comparison I ran last year was the fact I configured the TRD Sport with a manual transmission (my wife and I never learned how to drive automatics ;)); this in turn does two things, it eliminates the slush box tranny and the high end audio system.

A manual access cab Sport can shave off quite a bit of cost vs a double cab automatic.

I have no use for an Access Cab version.
