    TBD
    So I’ve got a first gen 01 with 185k on it. 2.7 4x4 ext cab and everything works perfect knock on wood, but I’ve got the itch for a brand new truck. Probably a new Chevy 1500 crew cab with the little duramax. Someone talk me off the edge of driving something other than my first gen

    Get the Duramax and build a weekend crawler with the 1st gen.

    Do you want a car note? 100% biggest influence for me to not sell my truck is the fact I refuse to pay a car note.

    Dollar for doughnuts the most economical solution is continue to drive the 1st gen..... story time. I bought my truck with 219k on the clock and a "blown motor" over the past 3years I've systematically rebuilt almost everything on this truck and I'm all in (since I've done my own work) 10k for parts, special tools, and garage rental space to do said work. I sure as shit couldn't get a new truck for only 10k, even under strict lease terms.

    Only thing I'd recommend for your truck is get the valves adjusted... that's the biggest "killer" of these 2.7 3rz engines

    Could keep the taco as an off-roader and buy the new truck. Cheaper than buying a Polaris RZR.

    You're not going sell the 1st gen 4cyc for much $ vs how useful it will be for you to just go to home depot etc. and not get your new prius dirty. The new Prius have been getting a lot of good reviews.

    Keep the 1st gen, no payment and invest the money into a monthly index fund instead.

    Toytec coilovers. Height adjustable Bilstein's. 265/75/16 MT. TRD wheels. Rebuilt r150f. Marlin clutch kit. All kinds of new parts...
    I might buy another vehicle but never getting rid of the 1st gen. Way too much invested in it and there isn't anything similar to driving a 1st gen. Not anything available that is close to it.

    New tundra is a better option. The 1500 with the smaller 3.0 dmax is limited to just around 9k tow capacity, which seams weak for a half ton diesel option. And the timing belt is mounted in the rear, not ideal from maintenance perspective.

    @Mallard386

    If you want a new truck, get it

    Why does getting rid of your Tacoma have anything to do with anything; no need to convince you of anything
